"SOP In New America!"

Yesterday I blogged about all the Taser deaths recently and now we have to revisit the death of Army PFC LaVerna Johnson. The army classified her death as a suicide, but it turns out that there is much more to it. This is even more disturbing than the Tillman Incident and makes all the other BCS scandals about Iraq seem trivial however, nothing is as it seems with the BCS in charge. Can't minimize the rest of the crud they have thrown on the people. This is a very sad story...I have also noticed that the internet has been scrubbed in respects to this story. Do a google search! From Crooks and Liars:

PFC LaVena Johnson Was Raped, Beaten, Set On Fire And Worse - Army Calls It Suicide

Nicole and I have both written posts about the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of PFC LaVena Johnson, and Democracy Now! had a heartbreaking interview with her family last week. LaVena’s family has worked hard to find the truth about her death and have finally had a breakthrough in the case. Unfortunately, the new details they uncovered are so disturbing that they could potentially make the Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch stories pale in comparison. The above video from Cenk of The Young Turks captures my exact feelings about this horrific case. What you’re about to read will sicken and enrage you.

The Army claims the 5’1” African-American soldier from North County died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound with a rifle on July 19, 2005. Her father, John H. Johnson, Ph.D. of Florissant, said color photos and documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act from the military suggest otherwise.

“Our worst fears were substantiated when we started going through information from the Army,” Johnson said.

He said the pictures and documents from the incident proved that his daughter had been brutalized - raped, beaten, shot and set on fire.

“Someone poured lye in her vagina to destroy evidence,” her father said. “Her body was dumped in a dirty, filthy contractor’s tent. Read on…

This was not a suicide. Contact your representatives in the House and Senate to demand a full scale Congressional investigation begin immediately. This crime and obvious cover up cannot go unpunished. MORE!

This is the type of stuff that just burns me up that more people are not screaming at the tops of their lungs to get it stopped! This is what is has become. New America with "War First" as it's slogan and it's people following along like obedient sheeple to the slaughter. They still say it's the land of the free and home of the brave but that all needs to be updated and changed to "the land of the slave and home of "be afraid" be very afraid!" These types of things start slowly like this and then turn into a full blown revolution. Just too bad sooo many will be working for them instead of themselves and getting what they deserve for it. please believe we are seeing a preview of what's to come! Someone should be held accountable for all of these atrocities!

Taser Tag - The New Shock Doctrine!

When I see stuff like this I just cannot believe my eyes and even more discouraging is that some idiot somewhere is going to say they cops were only doing their jobs! o lately there have been a lot of taser death incidents. They are taking the place of "police involved shootings" in America. From Charlotte.com:

Statesville suspect dies
after Taser hits in jail

At least two officers are put on administrative duty until SBI can complete its investigation.

By Victoria Cherrie

Anthony Davidson

Anthony Davidson

A Statesville man died after being shocked multiple times by Tasers at the Iredell County jail over the weekend, sources say.

Anthony Davidson, 29, was unresponsive when he was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon. He was put on life support and died late Sunday night, police said.

His death is the second Taser-related death this year in the Charlotte area. In March, 17-year-old Darryl Wayne Turner, died after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police used a Taser on him at a Food Lion store in Charlotte. MORE!

37 seconds of voltage running through this kids body1 But that pales in comparison to this next story...From Corrente:

An imminent threat

So, yesterday morning, a 16-year-old boy in Ozark, Missouri fell off a 30-foot I-65 overpass for unknown reasons. When the police arrived on the scene, they promptly administered first aid Tased him 19 times because he wouldn’t “comply” with their orders to stand up. (Thank god for Tasers, otherwise they’d have had to put him down like a broken racehorse, eh?)

Mace ended up in intensive care at a hospital. His parents believe the actions of Ozark police officers contributed to his injuries and slowed doctors’ abilities to speed his recovery.

The official explanation:

“He refused to comply with the officers and so the officers had to deploy their Tasers in order to subdue him. He is making incoherent statements; he’s also making statements such as, ‘Shoot cops, kill cops,’ things like that. So there was cause for concern to the officers,” said Ozark Police Capt. Thomas Rousset.

Yeah, I’m sure that’s exactly what he said after falling off a fucking bridge. They must have felt very threatened indeed by a possibly-paraplegic child. No word on whether he announced to the world that he was high on crack and PCP yet.

I don’t even know what to say anymore. It really is a gaslight scenario. I wish I could at least attribute this to racism or something, but it appears these cops are bona fide sociopaths. MORE!

So the gist is that he was laying on the road under an overpass which suggests its a highway at and the police hear him screaming in pain, but they didn't try to help him but Tasered him 19 times because he didn't "get up on command". Now I understand in a post apocalyptic era such as the one we currently live in and the home of the brave is now the home of "be afraid" that you have got to make sure the kid is not al Quaeda or otherwise a terrorist but come on now. We either have very scared cops or very sadistic cops. I do not know who I am more afraid of!
The most disturbing part about it all is the fact that most people wouldn't mind sitting on a plane with a shock collar on. However in 2007 the UN has classified Tasering a form of torture! From CBS:
(CBS/AP) A United Nations committee said Friday that use of Taser weapons can be a form of torture, in violation of the U.N. Convention Against Torture.

Use of the electronic stun devices by police has been marked with a sudden rise in deaths - including four men in the United States and two in Canada within the last week.

Canadian authorities are taking a second look at them, and in the United States, there is a wave of demands to BAN them.

The U.N. Committee Against Torture referred Friday to the use of TaserX26 weapons which Portuguese police has acquired. An expert had testified to the committee that use of the weapons had "proven risks of harm or death."

"The use of TaserX26 weapons, provoking extreme pain, constituted a form of torture, and that in certain cases it could also cause death, as shown by several reliable studies and by certain cases that had happened after practical use," the committee said in a statement.

"Well, it means that it's a very serious thing," Amnesty International USA Executive Director Larry Cox told CBS Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen. "These are people that have seen torture around the world, all kinds of torture. So they don't use the word lightly." MORE!

Now I understand the use of the taser, if not for the taser more people would have probably been shot and killed, but the term non-lethal has people fooled a little bit. For example cotton candy is non-lethal but if your getting it poured down your throat for 37 seconds it could be very lethal. At the very least fattening. Why would a taser be needed for that long?! I have been hit on the hand with a little personal taser and it knocked me on my ass and hand my hand sore for weeks. I know for a fact police tasers carry more juice and have seen it on TV shows like the Rodney King Beating...Rodney was a big guy and that damn taser straightened his big ass out and laid it down, so it's not that people are resisting the shock.
Here's the rub...They shock you for not complying, your dizzy and your muscles are all jittery from the shock, you stumble and wobble around. They shock you again , you fall and the process starts all over again. But hey torture is now legal in New America so I guess I shouldn't expect New Americans to understand what old America used to stand for!

"Another Crook Bites The Dust!"

Well it has been a long time coming but they finally got Ted "Tubes" Stevens on 7 felony counts of making false statements. The case broke last year and the indictment was handed up today. What it ultimately boils down to is that Ted lied about gifts he was receiving from oil contractor Veco. All in all Ted lied about $250,000 worth of gifts and services. Check out the video to see more details about Terrible Ted's indictments...

If you recall Stevens is the Senator that threatened to leave the Senate if he couldn't get his "bridge to nowhere" built. He is also a lobbyist whore for the big telecoms companies that want to control the Internet. This should put an end to Stevens and the rest of the rethugs. Can you say permanent senate minority? Hopefully he can share a cell with Bubba "the ass raper" in prison, to make sure his tubes are working. Another faux Christian who thinks God blesses him at the expense of others!

"Maniac Monday's - When Islam Goes Wrong!"

I know I am always ragging on Christians and Christianity so I thought a little Islam post should equal it out. Now I hope none of them crazy ass Jihadist come after me for this because I feel as though their religion is a bunch of BS! I feel that way about all religion but seems Christians are the most delusional and most Americans claim to be Christians so they catch the brunt of my ire. But in an effort of non-religious bias I present a portrait of how Islam can go terribly wrong!

"The Weekly (C)Wrap-Up (Saturday Edition) - Ich Bin Ein Obama!"

So I finally got my computer back up and running properly, not like Wednesday. I still have a lot more stuff to do to get it back to normal but that should be finished sometime tonight. Anywho, a lot of stuff went down last week, but the biggest story is Obama's trip abroad. He has been on a roll since he left the states and it culminated at a speech in Germany in front of at least 200k people. To get you caught up on Obama's trip and the distress it's causing all the wingnuts watch the vid from Jon Stewart & The Daily Show:

That part about "rousing speeches in front of large cheering crowds of germans" was hilarious in a scary sort of way!

They are comparing Obama's speech to Kennedy's "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech. They also made reference of Reagan but his speech was bullshit. Here is another take on the Germany visit from Crooks & Liars:

Obama in Europe: “People of Berlin. People of the world. This is our moment. This is our time.”

Senator Obama delivered a soaring speech today in Berlin before an estimated crowd of over 100,000 200,000 in which he called for a renewed trans-Atlantic — indeed, trans-global — alliance to fight the common threats we all face. Appealing the ideals America was founded on and has tried to promote since it’s inception, Senator Obama stated that whether it’s terrorism and global warming, or genocide and disease, there is no problem we cannot overcome nor enemy we cannot defeat when we are united in common purpose. Watch a few of his remarks below.

video_wmv Download | Play video_mov Download | Play

“People of Berlin - and people of the world - the scale of our challenge is great. The road ahead will be long. But I come before you to say that we are heirs to a struggle for freedom. We are a people of improbable hope. With an eye toward the future, with resolve in our hearts, let us remember this history, and answer our destiny, and remake the world once again.”

Watch the entire speech here.

UPDATE: German papers put the crowd at over 200,000

UPDATE II: Wow. It looks like US Foreign Service personnel were banned from the speech. And not by Senator Obama. MORE!

The GOP are a bunch of haters aren't they?! Not only did they stop the foreign service personnel from attending Obama's speech...From Huffpo:

Although it appears most of Berlin is heading to Obama's speech today, US Foreign Service personnel will be banned from the event. And they are not happy. The American Foreign Service Association, a union of Foreign Service workers are opposing the rule. Read more from The Washington Post. And watch the speech live here.

The U.S. Embassy in Berlin has instructed Foreign Service personnel stationed there not to attend Sen. Barack Obama's public rally today, which the State Department this week labeled a "partisan political activity" prohibited under its regulations for those serving overseas.

Government employees serving in the United States are permitted to attend such events under the Hatch Act, which bars other partisan activity, such as contributing money or working in behalf of a candidate...

...The American Foreign Service Association, the union of the diplomatic corps, objected to the ruling, calling it an "unnecessarily narrow interpretation" of the Foreign Affairs Manual. "The fact that you are working for the U.S. government overseas should not preclude political activity that you could engage in in the United States," one retired senior Foreign Service officer said. MORE!

They also canceled a trip Obama had scheduled to visit some wounded soldiers because the military would consider it a campaign trip...The GOP, the BCS and all the rest of the wingnuts are just pathetic...From Crooks & Liars:

Obama’s trip to see wounded soldiers canceled because the military would consider it a campaign event.

The right wingers have been trying to find something to attack Obama with since his trip has been so successful. Once again they look foolish.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama dropped a plan to visit wounded U.S. troops in Germany on Friday amid concerns the stop would be viewed as a political event.

Planning for a stop at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center had been in the works for three weeks. But an Obama adviser said he was told in recent days by the Pentagon that the military would consider it a campaign event.

“Senator Obama had hoped to and had every intention of visiting our troops to express his appreciation and gratitude for their service to our country,” said retired Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, who advises Obama on national security matters.

“Senator Obama did not want to have a trip to see our wounded warriors perceived as a campaign event when his visit was to show his appreciation for our troops and decided instead not to go,” Gration said.

The Pentagon, in a statement, cited longstanding Defense Department policy that prohibits military personnel or facilities from association with partisan political campaigns and elections.

Any candidate would go out of his way to make a trip like this. Hey, guess what? The same thing happened to McCain:

From CNN:

With Department of Defense rules prohibiting political campaigning on military bases, it was determined that in some cases McCain could visit the installations as a senator but could not engage in any political activity or have news media present. McCain campaign officials said Thursday they intentionally did not campaign on military property.

“We follow the rules,” said senior McCain adviser Steve Schmidt. MORE!

Looks like he is having one hell of a trip despite what the wingers are saying. Then there is Grampa McSimpson at the supermarket lying about his surge/anbar awakening gaffe...AGAIN!:

The problem is not with the fact that he keeps getting shit wrong, I expect that from his old ass. The thing that bothers me is the media scrubbing of his gaffes...From Daily Kos:

McCain: Infamous Surge Supermarket Video, Predating Anbar Similtaneously & Poll

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 08:56:40 AM PDT

As we all know on, Tuesday night during a CBS interview with Katie Couric, John McCain lied, or was mistaken about The Surge/Sunni-Anbar Awakening timeline in Iraq.

Unfortunately, as we found out CBS News, removed McCain's incorrect answer, kept the original question, then substituted the question, with a different answer.

Yesterday, in response (during the end of McCain's town hall meeting in Pennsylvania), he gave one of his most convoluted/confusing answers yet, on the Surge/Anbar Awakening (and I cried about it all day on Kos, lol)

Fortunately (for us), McCain repeated his bewildering explanation, in front of the Cheese Case (during a unscheduled interview), at the King Supermarket, in the Westgate Mall, in Bethleham, PA.

Remember (probably in embarrassment), he had canceled a scheduled Press Conference yesterday.

First McCain said on CBS, The Surge Predated The Sunni Awakening. Then he says, The Surge started before Bush said it did (yesterday). Then he added that (Yesterday), that The Surge, The Anbar Awakening, The Counter Insurgency and Political awakening happened similtaneously. Say what?

But despite McCain's royal Faux Pas, USA Today, decided to write an editorial, titled: http://blogs.usatoday.com/...

Our view on Iraq: Why can't Obama admit the obvious? The surge worked

USA today, wrote their questionable editorial despite the fact in the same article they admitted that:

The surge didn't do all of that; a cease-fire by Shiite militias and the switch by Sunni insurgents from attacking Americans to fighting al-Qaeda helped enormously. But the extra U.S. troops, brilliantly deployed by Gen. David Petraeus, have made a huge difference in calming the chaos. In doing so, it also contributed to the other developments.

So why the title USA today? MORE!

It's obvious why...The USA Today are haters too, part of the corporate media!

Speaking of the corporate media, which include those idiots at Faux it seems that rapper NAS has teamed up with the Color of Change and presented Faux with a 620,000 signature petition to stop the racist reporting that Faux engages in. From Alternet:

Fox News On-Air Racism Challenged by Huge Petition Drive and Hot Rapper Nas

By Don Hazen, AlterNet. Posted July 24, 2008.

A rally outside Fox News headquarters led by Color of Change delivers 620,000 signatures.

At a rally of a couple hundred people in front of Fox News headquarters on Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan, Andre Banks told the crowd: "We're here to call out Fox News on their pattern of on-air racism that is trying to make the Obama's outsiders in their own country. But it won't work. Many people think Fox is a joke. But putting racism on national TV and calling it news isn't funny."

Banks, who is Deputy Director of The Color of Change, a grassroots organization dedicated to advocating for progressive issues on the web, stood next to 19 stacked cardboard boxes. The number 620,127 was taped to the side of each box, representing the number of petition signatures gathered. The petition demanded that network president Roger Ailes "find a solution to address racial stereotyping and hate-mongering before it hits the airwaves." MORE!

Colbert had Nas on his show and Nas performed a track he wrote about this very situation called "Sly Fox" Check it out:

If you are not down with the Color of Change go check them out now and sign their petition: Demand Fox stop race baiting and fear mongering!

I guess now would be as good as time as any to start listing the nominees for "Asshole of the Week!" However, before we jump into that we do have an update on last weeks winner and this years presumptive title holder Michael Savage. Apparently his remarks got to a lot of folks even at the Senate. From Crooks & Liars:

Message from the floor of the US House: “If Michael Savage wants to see a moron, he should look in the mirror.”

Representative Mike Doyle (D-PA) takes on Michael Savage’s ridiculous comments on autism. The strongest movement yet to

get

Savage

fired

is underway.

UPDATE: (Nicole) And it’s been successful, at least in the Cleveland market. Media Matters documents Talk Radio Network’s impressively spinsational attempt at retroactive context to explain Savage’s comments by using comments made after that misrepresented his original comments.

Good enough for him. I guess he forgot that a lot of influential people have had kids with this problem and to just brush it off as some kind of discipline problem is just dismissible!

Now on to this weeks candidates. First up is the man jon stewart dubbed the "Douche Bag of Liberty" reporter Robert Novak! Seems Mr Novak was playing Grand Theft Auto DC style when he hit a pedestrian and kept going. From Crooks:

Politico:

Syndicated columnist Robert D. Novak was cited by police after he hit a pedestrian with his black Corvette in downtown Washington, D.C., on Wednesday morning.

“I didn’t know I hit him. … I feel terrible,” a shaken Novak told reporters from Politico and WJLA as he was returning to his car. “He’s not dead, that’s the main thing.” Novak said he was a block away from 18th and K streets Northwest, where the accident occurred, when a bicyclist stopped him and said he had hit someone. He said he was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

You didn’t know you hit him? Well I guess you must have just grazed the guy, right?

Bono said that the pedestrian, who was crossing the street on a “Walk” signal and was in the crosswalk, rolled off the windshield and that Novak then made a right into the service lane of K Street. “This car is speeding away. What’s going through my mind is, you just can’t hit a pedestrian and drive away,” Bono said.

I’m sorry, but I think most normal people would notice a 66 year old man rolling across their windshield. I’m just saying…

Update: John Amato: Why wasn’t Novak given a field sobriety test? This is very weird. You hit someone, leave the scene and then the police aren’t suspicious? MORE!

Of course we cannot go a couple weeks in a row without Bill Oh'Really filling out an application and applying for the title Asshole of the Week. this time he has really lost it. From Newshounds:

Bill O'Reilly: " It is not a stretch to say Moveon is the new Klan".

Reported by Deborah - Wed 10:52 PM

Tonight Bill O'Reilly, in response to the delivery of 600,000 signed petitions to FOX News headquarters announced with authority, "It is not a stretch to say Moveon is the new Klan." Juan Williams and Angela McGlowan joined O'Reilly for an hysterical attack on Moveon and a vehement but unconvincing denial of racist smears against Obama on FOX News. Also, Robert Wexler was put on BOR's rack for a second night of paybacks and Nas was dismissed and labeled "vile". All this and more in two segments.

This next story is a lot more serious than the other two although claiming to not know you hit a man who rolled over your windshield is serious enough. This next piece affects hundreds of thousands of people. Presented in full from Crooks & Liars:
Stop Arnold: Sign the petition to protect 200,000 state workers

(full disclosure: I work for the Courage Campaign)

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
announced last night
that he will sign an Executive Order on Monday slashing the wages of over 200,000 state employees to the bare minimum.

Not California’s minimum wage of $8 per hour. The federal minimum wage of $6.55. Six dollars and fifty-five cents an hour.

Imagine trying to pay your bills on $6.55 an hour. Now imagine what will happen to thousands of vital service workers like the people who make sure that child abusers don’t teach in schools, those who take care of the developmentally disabled, laundry workers who take care of our vets, or license inspectors for foster homes, all forced to live on poverty-level wages. A nauseating irony: many state employees may need to seek aid from the very state services that employ them.

The Governor’s plan, rather than fixing California’s massive $15 billion budget deficit, will instead make our budget crisis worse while delivering a serious blow to our struggling economy. As the recession deepens, gas prices skyrocket, stores close, and home foreclosures surge, the governor’s wage cuts will force many working families over the financial edge.

This is absolutely outrageous. And the only way we can stop Arnold is by raising our voices as loud as possible in protest before 9 a.m. on Monday.

Please join thousands of people in signing the Courage Campaign’s petition to Governor Schwarzenegger. On Monday morning, I will personally deliver your signatures to the governor’s office in the State Capitol.

Now I could see if he was cutting mid management salaries or cut out expensive consultants and the like but even that wouldn't help the budget problems in California, but this is just going to make things worse. Especially for the people that are already stretched to the limit by high gas, food and the feelings of dread for the near future. It is definitely a toss up this week between Adol...err Arnold and the Douche Bag of Liberty, but I got to go with my gut and give it to the Terminator!

I know this is all Kabuki Theater but it is still fun to dream and hope and it is nice to hear that someone in the Senate cares a little bit for the Constitution and that guy is Rep. Robert Wexler, (D)FL. He makes a passionate speech about the reasons for impeachment that will probably go nowhere, but it does give ya a little hope. From Crooks Again:

Congressional Hearing On Bush Abuse Of Power: Rep Wexler Brings The Heat

video_wmv Download | video_mov Download |

The House Judiciary Committee is holding hearings today on the numerous abuses of power and impeachable offenses of George W. Bush and right out of the gate, Florida Rep. Robert Wexler lays out the clear case for the need to begin impeachment hearings.

I fully recognize the significance of holding impeachment hearings and I have not come to this position lightly. Not one bit. But when an administration takes actions that amount to High Crimes, we, the Representatives of the people, are left with no option other than to seek impeachment and removal from office. Our government was founded by a delicate balance of powers, whereby one branch carefully checks the other branches to prevent a dangerous consolidation of power. The actions of this White House have eviscerated this careful balance. This is not a Democratic or Republican issue. This is an American issue. Without these checks and balances the President can run roughshod over any law with impunity. Congress must end this disturbing pattern of behavior, and in these circumstances, unfortunately, the only option left is impeachment hearings.

You got to give Wexler credit, he’s been very vocal for pushing for accountability and taking the hits from the wingnuts for it. MORE!

I am going to end this little ditty with this hit from Thinkprogress. Someone thinks that Reagan should be on the 10 dollar bill...

Norquist: Time is right to put ‘Reagan on the $10 bill.’

reagandollar.jpgIn 1997, conservative anti-tax activist Grover Norquist initiated the Reagan Legacy Project, which sought to “name something — a stadium, a stretch of turnpike, anything — after Reagan in every state in the union.” Another proposal favored by the group is to have “Reagan’s image replace that of Alexander Hamilton, the nation’s first treasury secretary, on the $10 bill.” Speaking to the Washington Examiner yesterday, Norquist suggested that the time is right to push that project again. “It sounds like a good time to re-start the conversation about getting Reagan on the $10 bill,” said Norquist. “I don’t know why the Bush administration has dropped the ball on this.”

"This is Satire!"

I have been working since 9 am this morning trying to get my computer back up and at least to this point. Seems i had a complete system crash and the entire boot sector was erased. How that happened I cannot for the life of me figure out. Of course the paranoia has set in again and I got visions of spy vs spy and the ultimate Government conspiracy but it is probably due to the fact that I had very little swap file space and the crash and partition deletion was the result. i hd just started in on a blog post when the computer went down so of course I lost everything even the files from my latest video....DAM DAM DAM!

Anywho, I had this post all ready about what is and what isn't satire and of course autosave didn't catch it all before the crash and my memory just isn't what t used to be and of course there is that whole pesky work thing.

Anyway, in response to the New Yorker cover and now the Vanity Fair cover (posted further down) and the confuson as to what is or is not satire I present the work of Tom Tommorrow

This Modern World By Tom Tomorrow

This Modern World By Tom Tomorrow

That New Yorker cover was an attack not satire! Now Vanity Fair has released a cover...Didn't see it?!?

http://www.vfdaily.com/politics/assets/Cover-McCain2.jpg

This one was better IMHO:

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/dayart/20080715/cartoon20080715.gif

Now the problem with the new Yorker cover is that there is NO truth to it and part of good satire and comedy for that matter is it takes something that has a basis of truth and exaggerates it. Same with stereotypes. However, you would think that after all of the flap about Reverend Wright stupid people would not keep making the mistake that Barack is a Muslim. It should also be fairly obvious that McLame is old and his wife had problems with pills. See there is some truth to the Vanity Fair cover and that what makes it work for me. Now maybe if there was someone looking at the cover of the New Yorker saying I knew it or something like that then that might have been funny to me. I mean that was the claim they made that they were making fun of the people who believed the things they supposedly lampooned in the cover, but how was anyone to know that?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/archive/che%20quevara.jpg

Now this is funny because...Figure it out. If I have to tell you why it's funny it kinda looses some of it's bite....lol!

"Michael Savage - Asshole of the Week!"

If you missed my Weekly (C)Wrap-Up Friday you probably missed the addle brained comments that Savage made about children with autism...“In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is.” *DEAD BLANK STARE* Now it seems this idiot is on TV with of all people Glenn Beck (hosting Larry King live) to "defend" his statements! Of course we got the normal right wingnut outrage of being called on their shit, "They have taken me out of context!", "Media matters is the devil", "the librul media the librul media!" and various other crap then he he had the nerve to say he was just "defending the defenseless"! Wow! Just WOW! From Crooks & Liars:
Michael Savage defends autism remarks: I’m just “defending of the defenseless!”

When I heard Michael Wiener Savage was going to appear on “Larry King Live” Monday night (with Glenn Beck guest-hosting) to “defend” his horrific remarks about children with autism“In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is.” — I knew to expect at least two things: (a) he would claim that he was “taken out of context”, and (b) he would attack MediaMatters for bringing it to the public’s attention. What I didn’t expect, however, is that he would attempt the PR equivalent of a quadruple axel.

video_wmv Download | video_mov Download |

Beck: It seems pretty clear that you don’t really believe autism exists.

Savage: No, no, no, no, no. Again, you took what they gave you. But you didn’t take the entire preceding material. […] This was in the broader context of the overmedicalization, the over-diagnosis of disease, using our children as profit centers. I’ve spent all day saying what a shame it is that I — as a man who has spent his entire life defending the defenseless, mainly children — should have to defend myself from charges leveled at me from men who specialize in hating families and children, namely MediaMatters — who probably come after you as well — by ripping things out of context and making me look like the monster that they are.

You see, Michael Savage is a humanitarian who’s always looking out for the kids! When he says children diagnosed with autism are “brats” who just need a father to smack some sense into them, he’s actually defending them. How dare anyone “take him out of context” when all he’s trying to do is speak candidly about the epidemic of over-medicating children?! What do those so-called “experts” know about autism, anyway?

Here are a few other examples of Savage’s humanitarianism and “defense of the defenseless”:

Savage: “We’re getting refugees now who have never used a telephone, a toothbrush, or toilet paper. … [T]hey never assimilate. And then their children become gang-bangers.”

Savage accused former page of “gay-baiting” Foley and added: “Maybe he’s a Democrat.”

Savage advocated “militarization of our children” to respond to terror threat.

You can use MM’s form to find your local Savage station and make your voice heard. AFLAC has already decided to pull their ads.

I love the two points I highlighted above. But let's not forget this little gem either...

Savage later claimed that there was “an asthma epidemic amongst minority children” because “the children got extra welfare if they were disabled.” Media Matters has the audio.

This guy is a real piece of shit and will probably hold the top asshole spot for another week for this attempt to "defend the indefensible"!

"Conspiracy Corner - FEMA Coffins?!"

Now this has been bugging me since I saw it early Saturday morning. Now the picture above seems to show what appears to be a shitload of plastic burial vaults and they were supposedly purchased by FEMA. So far there has been no conclusive answer and it seems answers are getting hard to come by. So Jr. Conspirators I am going to leave it up to you and your incredible powers of "debunking" to nail this one down and either start a panic or show that our government means us no harm...Damn I just shot soda out my nose laughing about that last one!

Here is the evidence that has been collected so far. From Infowars:

Why Are Tens of Thousands of Plastic “Burial Vaults” Stacked in a Field Near Madison, Georgia?

Cryptogon
July 20, 2008

Editor’s note: If you think all of this is simply conspiracy mongering, consider the fact our government indeed repeatedly plans for widespread “bio-terrorist” attacks, most notably Operation Dark Winter, staged nearly three months before the attacks of September 11, 2001, and the subsequent anthrax attacks beginning on September 18, 2001. As well, consider the national-level domestic and international TOPOFF exercises, primarily involving biological and chemical attacks.

I have no idea what to make of this one. All of the sites I was able to find that reference this stockpile assume that it has something to do with an upcoming American holocaust and martial law, etc. Again, I have no idea.

Let’s try to work trough this one a bit…

First of all, what are they?

The product is called a “Burial Vault.” They are made by PolyGuard Vaults. Their website describes the product as follows:

A Burial Vault is an outside receptacle or container, in which the casket and remains are placed, at the time of burial. This helps to maintain the above ground aesthetics of the grave site.

Polyguard Burial Vaults are now manufactured using an injection moulding process, and constructed of non-biodegradable, water and chemical resistant polymers.

So, they’re not coffins, but liners in which coffins would be placed before burial.

I did some more research to determine if the government did business with PolyGuard Vaults. Indeed, the U.S. Veterans Administration has been buying Burial Vaults from PolyGuard Vaults for years. Use fedspending.org to look up the contracts. Click the Contracts tab and type in Polyguard.

You can go back to the year 2000. When you use the Level of Detail: Complete (all information) setting, this will show more detail. In the “Contract Description” fields you’ll see: THERMOPLASTIC GRAVELINERS. So, it seems to make sense that the VA would be buying these things…

Here’s a reference with regard to casket burials in a cemetery in Hawaii. This is from the Aloha Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America:

Casket burials now require Polyguard Burial Vault at a cost of $220 for family members and no charge for the Retiree, Veteran or Active Duty personnel. The vaults were required to prevent the burial site from settling and collapsing following the burial.

Anyone looking into this situation in Georgia might find the VA contracts and just think, “Yep, the VA bought them, nothing to see here.” An interesting question would be: How many units did the VA get? I haven’t been able to determine that. If we knew that, we’d be able figure out roughly how many casket burials were happening at VA run cemeteries vs. how many Burial Vaults were ordered. If there was a large difference, well, we would have a pretty good idea of where the extra units went…

Where are they?

They are in a field near Madison, Georgia, just off of Lion’s Club Road and next to (as far as I can tell) a Fowler Flemister Concrete plant. See coordinates: +33° 33′ 57.36″, -83° 29′ 6.26″.

I’ll host a local screen shot of the map above, just in case Google decides to disappear it.

Here’s a video taken at the site:

How many?

I tried to figure out a way to count them, but I couldn’t do it. I felt like my estimates could easily be off by an order of magnitude. To say that it’s tens of thousands is probably conservative.

Who owns the land?

I haven’t been able to figure that out. The legend that I keep running across is that a private individual leased the land to FEMA. I suppose that’s possible, or it could be absolute nonsense. I don’t know. With all of the U.S. Government’s vast land holdings and facilities, FEMA leased this field from someone to store these Burial Vaults??? Again, I suppose that anything is possible.

If these Burial Vaults do belong to FEMA, that would be very interesting. I went through all of the government contracts with PolyGuard going back to 2000 and FEMA hasn’t done any (on the books) business with them. Since 2000, the government contracts that went to PolyGuard were all awarded by the VA.

Why?

That’s the question. I have no idea and I haven’t found any good guesses either. The consensus on the foil sites is that these Burial Vaults are to be used in the aftermath of some kind of false flag attack or holocaust/final solution situation. Initially, I thought the same thing, but when I thought about it more carefully, wouldn’t FEMA just stockpile body bags?

The anonymous comments on some sites say that it’s probably related to contingency planning for a natural disaster. Again, wouldn’t FEMA just stockpile body bags?

One thing that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere is how much money is represented by this Burial Vault stockpile. The newsletter above puts the cost at $220. I have not been able to determine what the government pays, per unit, but let’s not even assume that $220 is the cost. Let’s say it’s just $100 each. At that rate, ten thousand units would be worth $1 million. So, there’s easily several million dollars worth of inventory sitting in that field.

To the imbeciles who suggest that this is some sort of routine private inventory for a mortuary business (yes, I have seen people suggesting that): There is A) no way that a mortuary company would spend millions of dollars for so many of these at once and B) no way that a mortuary company would leave them sitting unguarded in a field for years.

I’d love for someone to provide a This-Is-Normal-There’s-Nothing-To-See-Here explanation, but so far, I haven’t been able to find such an explanation.

I will be the first to admit that I not sold on the whole coffins thingy because why go through all of that trouble when "mass graves" where they dig a big ass hole and push the bodies down in the hole and cover them up with dirt works so well?! But then again we are talking about our current government and New America so any thing at all is possible.

A great place to start your search would be at this ATS forum page and the comments accompanying the youtube video! A lot of folks are on this mission trying to figure out just what the hell is going on in Georgia with all these alleged burial vaults. Remember the CDC is in Atlanta along with about 5 million people. I'm just saying!

"The Weekly (C)Wrap-Up! - Black On Black Slime!"

Like I stated yesterday those Conspiracy Corner post's take a lot out of me and it takes a few days to recover after wards but now for some strange reason my left shoulder is killing me. Maybe it's because I spend all my time sitting at this keyboard...Naaahhhh! Anywho since it is Friday (thank the gods) unfortunately it is also time for the slime, the criminals avoiding time and the all around mental beat down of the American populace.

Starting off our week we had some lovely statements caught on tape by our favorite reverend of rhyme Jesse Jackson. Now I'm thinking Jesse had a good idea that Faux as listening in on him and he made those remarks about cutting Senator Obama's nuts off to start some shit. You know, kind of like keeping Barack pitted against some kind of preacher ala the Reverend Wright fake media fight. I cannot believe that Jesse was dumb enough to get caught saying something stupid again by the same people that ended his run for the presidency in '88 with the "Hymie town" remark. Up until that gaffe Jesse had a very good chance to win the presidency that year and almost got the nomination with an impressive 1200 delegates by the time he got to the convention, but those hidden camera's and microphones get you every time! So now he is in the enemies lair and he doesn't think they are listening to everything he says?! From Yahoo news:

Fox: Jackson used N-word in crude off-air remarks

By SOPHIA TAREEN, Associated Press Writer Thu Jul 17, 7:21 AM ET

CHICAGO - The Rev. Jesse Jackson used the N-word during a break in a TV interview where he criticized presidential candidate Barack Obama, Fox News confirmed Wednesday.

U.S. civil rights leader Jesse Jackson is seen in New York in this February 20, 2008 file photo. Jackson complained on Tuesday that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama can seem to be "talking down to black people" at times and should broaden his message. REUTERS/Chip East/Files

The longtime civil rights leader already came under fire this month for crude off-air comments he made against Obama in what he thought was a private conversation during a taping of a "Fox & Friends" news show.

In additional comments from that same conversation, first reported by TVNewser, Jackson is reported to have said Obama was "talking down to black people," and referred to blacks with the N-word when he said Obama was telling them "how to behave."

Though a Fox spokesman confirmed the TVNewer's account to The Associated Press, the network declined to release the full transcript of the July 6 show and did not air the comments.

Jackson — who is traveling in Spain — apologized in a statement Wednesday for "hurtful words" but didn't offer specifics.

"I am deeply saddened and distressed by the pain and sorrow that I have caused as a result of my hurtful words. I apologize again to Senator Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, their children as well as to the American public," Jackson said in a written statement. "There really is no justification for my comments and I hope that the Obama family and the American public will forgive me. I also pray that we, as a nation, can move on to address the real issues that affect the American people."

A spokeswoman for Jackson's civil rights organization, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, said she could not confirm that Jackson used the slur. MORE!

Makes me more convinced that this was some kind of set-up! You know how they love to pit us against one another and with the release of that offensive magazine cover from the New Yorker they need to offset it with some good old black on black slime. Other than Barack selling us out to Verizon and AT&T there hasn't been much in the way of major GOP attacks so this was long overdue.

Naaaah nothing offensive about that!

Did the New Yorker really think this was funny or did they do it to help stupid people reinforce thier ideas about Barack being a Muslim and that him and his wife are anti-American militants? Yeah me too! but like I stated "up-post" they needed some new black on black slime to offset this and Jesse volunteered, but that is just my take on the matter...

Let's move on...Speaking of moving on Iraqi officials want to set a time frame for US withdrawal from their country. They say all US and other forces should withdraw by 2011. From Alternet:

In a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat, [Maj. Gen. Mohammed] Al-Askari said, "No agreement has been reached as yet, but there is no dead-end, as the talks are continuing." He added, that "The U.S. party has given up the idea of a military agreement and has proposed instead the idea of a security protocol to be appended to the framework agreement."

Al-Askari said that the talks between the two parties are continuing, stressing that the Iraqi government put forward a proposal for scheduling the withdrawal and evacuation of the multinational forces, as this would be the other side of any agreement. Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said at a reception of the Arab ambassadors accredited to the UAE during his visit to Abu Dhabi last Sunday that "the negotiations with the U.S. party are continuing, and the current orientation is to reach a memorandum of understanding for the evacuation of the U.S. forces or a memorandum of understanding for scheduling their withdrawal." Al-Askari added, that "The United States is talking of five years as a time frame for the withdrawal of its forces effective from the date of signing the agreement, whereas the Iraqi party proposes two to three years as a maximum for their withdrawal." MORE!

I seem to remember the BCS saying that the us will stand down when the Iraqi's stand up but it is kind of hard for them to stand when the us keeps trying to knock them down. Not hearing a lot about this on the corporate media because there is no plan nor was there ever a plan to leave Iraq, well until all the oil is gone. We are going to have to watch Senator Obama and what he says over on his mission abroad...Now I don't know how a couple trips are going to make you qualified to be a foreign policy specialist but it will be good training for the Presidential hopeful. I wonder if he is going to agree to the Iraqi time line for withdrawal or ignore it and keep shilling for Isitreal?!

I guess the BCS heard about the proposed Iraqi time table and decided to commit to some new crap they have come up with called a "general time horizon". From Think Progress:

White House Announces ‘General Time Horizon’ For Iraq Withdrawal; Is It ‘Conceding Too Much To The Enemy?’

aleqm5is6a6t3hbukvubwttysuzuvhdava.jpgWhen Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki first requested a timetable for withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, the Bush administration swiftly shot down his proposal. “Timelines tend to be artificial in nature,” a Pentagon spokesperson remarked. “[W]e’re looking at conditions, not calendars here,” the State Department remarked.

But today, the White House has seemingly embraced a “general time horizon” for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq. The AP reports:

Iraqi officials, in a sign of growing confidence as violence decreases, have been pressuring the United States to agree to a specific timeline to withdraw U.S. forces. President Bush has adamantly opposed a timeline, and the White House said Friday that the timeframe being discussed would not be ”an arbitrary date for withdrawal.” […]

The White House says the two leaders, in a conversation on Thursday, agreed that the accord should include ”a general time horizon for meeting aspirational goals, such as the resumption of Iraqi security control in their cities and provinces and the further reduction of U.S. combat forces from Iraq.”

The White House’s concession today comes after years of resistance to even considering the prospect of a timetable for withdrawing troops, particularly when it came from Congress. Some lowlights of the administration’s stubborn rhetoric:

“Why would you say to the enemy, you know, here’s a timetable, just go ahead and wait us out? It doesn’t make any sense to have a timetable. You know, if you give a timetable, you’re — you’re conceding too much to the enemy.” [Bush, 6/24/05]

“Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq.” [Undersecretary of Defense Eric Edelman, 7/16/07]

“I believe artificial timetables of withdrawal would be a mistake. … I will strongly reject an artificial timetable withdrawal and/or Washington politicians trying to tell those who wear the uniform how to do their job.” [Bush, 4/23/07]

“The…attempt to micromanage our commanders is an unwise and perilous endeavor. It is impossible to argue that an unconditional timetable for retreat could serve the security interests of the United States or our friends in the region.” [Vice President Cheney, 4/13/07] MORE!

I wonder if Barack is going to talk to the Iraqi's about his plans for withdrawal on his world tour or just do more shilling for Isitreal?

From McClatchy:

Obama's foreign trip designed to highlight new approach

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama will spend next week touring the Middle East and Western Europe, a trip that's galvanized much of the world's attention because of his charisma, race and family background and the 180-degree shift he's promising from the Bush administration's foreign policy.

The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee will meet with top leaders of five nations considered key allies of the United States — Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and England — as well as with Palestinian leaders.

Obama foreign-policy advisers said Friday that the central goals of the trip were to exchange views with those leaders; look for ways to enhance cooperation on nuclear nonproliferation, counter-terrorism, energy security and climate change; and underscore shared values.

"It is not our intent to make policy or to negotiate, and we won't do so," senior foreign-policy adviser Susan Rice said. "There is one president of the United States at any given time, and we will certainly honor and respect that." MORE!

We shall see if this makes him a foriegn policy expert over the POW but both of them are suspected frauds in my eyes!

Who is next?! I was going to vote John Ashcroft "Asshole of the Week" for his testimony before congress and in particular to a question asked of him by Rep. Maxine Waters. From Thinkprogress:

Ashcroft: Waterboarding ‘Consistently’ Seen As Legal, Refuses To Say Use On U.S. Troops Is ‘Unacceptable’

During a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee today, former Attorney General John Ashcroft falsely claimed that waterboarding has “consistently” been defined as “not torture” and refused to agree that the use of enhanced interrogation techniques — including waterboarding — on captured U.S. soldiers is “unacceptable” or “criminal.”

REP. MAXINE WATERS: Do you think that if these techniques were used on American soldiers that they would be totally unacceptable and even criminal? […]

ASHCROFT: My job, as Attorney General, was to try and elicit from the experts and the best people in the Department definitions that comported with the statues enacted by the Congress and the Constitution of the United States. And those statutes have consistently been interpreted so as to say, by the definitions that, waterboarding, as described in the CIA’s request, is not torture.

Watch it:

In fact, waterboarding “has been prosecuted in U.S. courts since the late 1800s and was regarded by every U.S. administration before this one as torture.” MORE!

About a week or so ago avowed atheist, drunk, Iraq war supporter and occasional reporter for Harper's Christopher Hitchens allowed himself to be waterboarded and this is what he had to say:

"If waterboarding does not constitute torture, then there is no such thing as torture."

Now my man Ashcroft had some stiff competition one of the challengers was Larry "wide stance" Craig and it is not the topic he was talking about but what he said especially after knowing his history...From Crooks & Liars:

Sen Larry Craig: Don’t let foreigners “jerk us around by the gas nozzle”

Presented without comment.

I'm not gonna comment on it either! Next up in the running and the winner of the Asshole of the Week award is right wingnut radio host and all around idiot is Michael Savage. From Thinkprogress:

Savage: ‘In 99 percent of the cases’ of autism, ‘it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out.’

Yesterday on his radio show, right wing talker Michael Savage said that autism is “a fraud” and “a racket” and that “in 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out.” Savage then asserted that all these “brat[s]” need as a father to tell them to “stop acting like a putz“:

That’s what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they’re silent? They don’t have a father around to tell them, ‘Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.’” Savage concluded, “[I]f I behaved like a fool, my father called me a fool. And he said to me, ‘Don’t behave like a fool.’ The worst thing he said — ‘Don’t behave like a fool. Don’t be anybody’s dummy. Don’t sound like an idiot. Don’t act like a girl. Don’t cry.’ That’s what I was raised with. That’s what you should raise your children with. Stop with the sensitivity training. You’re turning your son into a girl, and you’re turning your nation into a nation of losers and beaten men. That’s why we have the politicians we have.”

Savage later claimed that there was “an asthma epidemic amongst minority children” because “the children got extra welfare if they were disabled.” Media Matters has the audio.

Wow! Just wow! We are worried about that fool Imus when you got guy's like Savage spreading that venom everyday!

I guess I would be remiss if I didn't mention the recent bailouts of private lenders Fannie May & Freddie Mac not too mention the bailout of failing Indymac bank. For that report I will let Jon Stewart do the honors.

I posted this yesterday and so far he has done the best job breaking this issue down, but the bottom line is that as taxpayers we are going to get stuck with about a 1 trillion dollar tax bill. I can't get no relief at all yet these multi-billion dollar corporations get to trash the market by their irresponsible unregulated lending practices then get bailed out at the expense of me and other tax payers. They caused their own problems by being a bunch of greedy unscrupulous bastards and now I am supposed to have some sympathy for them?! If I am not mistaken the free markets dictates that you do it better than the competition or you fold but of course the GOP wants it both ways! From Marketwatch:

No Blank Check Taxpayer Bailout for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac

FreedomWorks opposes unlimited taxpayer backstop for GSE bondholders

WASHINGTON, Jul 17, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- FreedomWorks announced its opposition today to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson's unlimited "Blank Check Bailout" of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and called on the Secretary to present a plan that permanently restructures these failed institutions.

Secretary Paulson told Congress in testimony last September that:

"If we knew then what we know now, we likely would not have designed entities like the GSEs that have private ownership but are required to undertake a public mission. These competing interests are too difficult to manage, and the potential long-term market distortions and public policy concerns are too significant."

FreedomWorks President Matt Kibbe commented:

"We have an opportunity at this moment to permanently fix the GSE threat to our financial system. Yet the proposal before Congress simply doubles down its bet on these risky institutions and puts taxpayers explicitly on the hook. The bill actually includes a new tax on GSE revenues as well as a reckless expansion of their conforming loan limits.

"We call on Secretary Paulson to rise up to this challenge and present a plan that truly restructures the GSEs instead of undermining them further and creating unlimited taxpayer liability.

"There is more than $5 trillion in outstanding GSE debt. Creating an explicit government guarantee for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could end up costing taxpayers $1 trillion, according to an analysis by Standard & Poor's. MORE!

I am sure there is a lot I am missing this week but my shoulder is making it very difficult to keep sitting here. So have a great weekend in spite of the BCS!

Artscape and the EROfestival started this weekend in Baltimore so I will be hanging out there Saturday after the sun goes down of course!
