Taser Tag - The New Shock Doctrine!

When I see stuff like this I just cannot believe my eyes and even more discouraging is that some idiot somewhere is going to say they cops were only doing their jobs! o lately there have been a lot of taser death incidents. They are taking the place of "police involved shootings" in America. From Charlotte.com:

Statesville suspect dies
after Taser hits in jail

At least two officers are put on administrative duty until SBI can complete its investigation.

A Statesville man died after being shocked multiple times by Tasers at the Iredell County jail over the weekend, sources say.

Anthony Davidson, 29, was unresponsive when he was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon. He was put on life support and died late Sunday night, police said.

His death is the second Taser-related death this year in the Charlotte area. In March, 17-year-old Darryl Wayne Turner, died after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police used a Taser on him at a Food Lion store in Charlotte. MORE!

37 seconds of voltage running through this kids body1 But that pales in comparison to this next story...From Corrente:

An imminent threat

So, yesterday morning, a 16-year-old boy in Ozark, Missouri fell off a 30-foot I-65 overpass for unknown reasons. When the police arrived on the scene, they promptly administered first aid Tased him 19 times because he wouldn’t “comply” with their orders to stand up. (Thank god for Tasers, otherwise they’d have had to put him down like a broken racehorse, eh?)

Mace ended up in intensive care at a hospital. His parents believe the actions of Ozark police officers contributed to his injuries and slowed doctors’ abilities to speed his recovery.

The official explanation:

“He refused to comply with the officers and so the officers had to deploy their Tasers in order to subdue him. He is making incoherent statements; he’s also making statements such as, ‘Shoot cops, kill cops,’ things like that. So there was cause for concern to the officers,” said Ozark Police Capt. Thomas Rousset.

Yeah, I’m sure that’s exactly what he said after falling off a fucking bridge. They must have felt very threatened indeed by a possibly-paraplegic child. No word on whether he announced to the world that he was high on crack and PCP yet.

I don’t even know what to say anymore. It really is a gaslight scenario. I wish I could at least attribute this to racism or something, but it appears these cops are bona fide sociopaths. MORE!

So the gist is that he was laying on the road under an overpass which suggests its a highway at and the police hear him screaming in pain, but they didn't try to help him but Tasered him 19 times because he didn't "get up on command". Now I understand in a post apocalyptic era such as the one we currently live in and the home of the brave is now the home of "be afraid" that you have got to make sure the kid is not al Quaeda or otherwise a terrorist but come on now. We either have very scared cops or very sadistic cops. I do not know who I am more afraid of!
The most disturbing part about it all is the fact that most people wouldn't mind sitting on a plane with a shock collar on. However in 2007 the UN has classified Tasering a form of torture! From CBS:
(CBS/AP) A United Nations committee said Friday that use of Taser weapons can be a form of torture, in violation of the U.N. Convention Against Torture.

Use of the electronic stun devices by police has been marked with a sudden rise in deaths - including four men in the United States and two in Canada within the last week.

Canadian authorities are taking a second look at them, and in the United States, there is a wave of demands to BAN them.

The U.N. Committee Against Torture referred Friday to the use of TaserX26 weapons which Portuguese police has acquired. An expert had testified to the committee that use of the weapons had "proven risks of harm or death."

"The use of TaserX26 weapons, provoking extreme pain, constituted a form of torture, and that in certain cases it could also cause death, as shown by several reliable studies and by certain cases that had happened after practical use," the committee said in a statement.

"Well, it means that it's a very serious thing," Amnesty International USA Executive Director Larry Cox told CBS Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen. "These are people that have seen torture around the world, all kinds of torture. So they don't use the word lightly." MORE!

Now I understand the use of the taser, if not for the taser more people would have probably been shot and killed, but the term non-lethal has people fooled a little bit. For example cotton candy is non-lethal but if your getting it poured down your throat for 37 seconds it could be very lethal. At the very least fattening. Why would a taser be needed for that long?! I have been hit on the hand with a little personal taser and it knocked me on my ass and hand my hand sore for weeks. I know for a fact police tasers carry more juice and have seen it on TV shows like the Rodney King Beating...Rodney was a big guy and that damn taser straightened his big ass out and laid it down, so it's not that people are resisting the shock.
Here's the rub...They shock you for not complying, your dizzy and your muscles are all jittery from the shock, you stumble and wobble around. They shock you again , you fall and the process starts all over again. But hey torture is now legal in New America so I guess I shouldn't expect New Americans to understand what old America used to stand for!
