"Maniac Monday's - Keep Em Seperated!"

"There is no weapon, no force of nature, no drug or disease more destructive and powerful than religion." -10-acious_D

I have a very short tolerance for religious "wackery" of any kind and when it comes to elected officials and their beliefs please check them at the door of your workplace especially if you are a government employee. There is a reason for the seperation of church and state. one of the big reasons is the state is real it can be quantified, where as religion is false hopes, division, hatred, death and destruction, just the opposite of what it should be. 75% of Americans claim Christianity as the religion they follow, with non-religious/secular following in second with about 13% of the population. If those numbers were switched we would see a much more peaceful nation. I bet out of the 75% 50% haven't got a clue as to what they are praying to and why.

Which brings me to my Maniac for Monday...Representative Monique Davis (D)-Ill. Two things are really disturbing about Rep Davis and the first she is a democrat and secondly she sounded like a typical rethug bible thumper in her close minded, self righteous and stupid outburst. Which is worse than the fact that she cannot understand her beliefs make much less sense than the person she was criticizing...From The Chicago Tribune:

Rep. Monique Davis to atheist Rob Sherman: `It's dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists!'

Rep. Monique Davis (D-Chicago) interrupted atheist activist Rob Sherman during his testimony Wednesday afternoon before the House State Government Administration Committee in Springfield and told him, "What you have to spew and spread is extremely dangerous . . . it's dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists!

"This is the Land of Lincoln where people believe in God," Davis said. "Get out of that seat . . . You have no right to be here! We believe in something. You believe in destroying! You believe in destroying what this state was built upon."

Apparently it's still open season on some views of God.

Outside of Change of Subject, where I posted a transcript and the audio, Davis' repellent, un-American outburst received no attention whatsoever.

Maybe one of her fellow legislators can remind her that there is such a thing as separation of church and state. She also needs to be reminded that part of the reason America even exists today was because people wanted to worship or not worship as they saw fit. I guess Representative Davis has forgotten all of her 5th grade civics lessons. Must have been pushed out of her mind by all them bible scriptures instead of statutes and laws. One laws that states that this country has religious freedom and while aethism is not a religion per se it is still a belief just like she has beliefs.

Personally I think all religion should be banned from public discourse unless it is in a church but that will never happen as long as Americans are so easily brainwashed. The brainwashing is easy when the myopia starts at birth.
