As you probably know the new Pope is coming to America. From the La Times:
A vibrant, if unorthodox, U.S. flock awaits pope's visit
Benedict XVI arrives Tuesday for a six-day visit to America, which he sees as a potential role model for melding religion into daily life.
From the Vatican, the church in America is often seen as problematic, consumed by sex abuse scandals and populated by "cafeteria Catholics" who pick and choose the religious rules they want to follow, casually adjusting doctrine to meet the demands of their busy lives in an overly permissive society.
"From the dawn of the republic," the pope said recently, "America has been . . . a nation which values the role of religious belief in ensuring a vibrant and ethically sound democratic order."
First, I am not one of the flock who is awaiting the Popes visit...In the immortal words of Sinead O'Connor, "Fuck the Pope!" It doesn't matter to me which Pope it is because any of them for the last 40 or 50 years knew about all the child abuse and molestation that their sick warped priest performed all over America. Then the religious wackos want to make that last demon a saint! Yeah let's make him the patron Saint of Pedophilia. While the old pope allowed it to go on his main man Ratzinger covered it up! So the Vatican or any of it's residents get NO LOVE from me! However, he is coming to America and the religious catholics and other wackos are lining up to be in the presence of a know Nazi sympathizer and main defender of pedophile priest. From ABCNews.com:
No Trial, No Punishment for Accused Molester Says Vatican
May 19, 2006 9:46 AM
A well-connected Vatican insider accused of molesting young priests in training will not face a trial or be severely punished, the Vatican said today. Instead, Father Marcial Maciel was asked to give up all of his public ministry appearances.
A statement issued by the Vatican earlier today invited Father Maciel, who retired in 2005, "to lead a reserved life of prayer and penitence." There was no official finding of guilt.
A number of former priests told Vatican investigators they were abused by Father Maciel, the founder of the Legion of Christ, a small but wealthy Catholic order that operates in the United States and 25 other countries.
Many of Maciel's accusers had waited for years for the Vatican's decision. "It has to come, we are so many victims of this man," Juan Vaca, one of the accusers, told ABC News earlier this week. The accusations go back to the 1950s.
The allegations were presented to Pope Benedict XVI in 1998 when he was a Cardinal. Some of the accusers said then-Cardinal Ratzinger attempted to cover up the case because of Maciel's prominence and close relationship with Pope John Paul II.
The then-Cardinal Ratzinger became visibly upset when asked about the Maciel case by ABC News' Brian Ross in April 2002.
"You do not ask such questions," he said and then slapped Ross's hand.
Any finding of guilt "would automatically become a stain on the legacy of Pope John Paul II, who was a huge supporter of Maciel," according to Jason Berry, author of "Vows of Silence," which deals with sex abuse cases in the Catholic Church. MORE!
Ratzinger is also the author of a 2001 document that reminded all of his bishops that the "Crimine solicitationies" law (regarding strict secrecy in sex abuse cases) is still in effect. From Daily Kos:
They also call for the victim to take an oath of secrecy at the time of making a complaint to Church officials. It states that the instructions are to `be diligently stored in the secret archives of the Curia [Vatican] as strictly confidential. Nor is it to be published nor added to with any commentaries.'
[...] Bishops are instructed to pursue these cases `in the most secretive way... restrained by a perpetual silence... and everyone... is to observe the strictest secret which is commonly regarded as a secret of the Holy Office... under the penalty of excommunication'. MORE!
Now I added all of that information to show you just how hypocritical all these people are from the Pope to the President. From Think Progress:
Pope will not attend his own White House dinner.
Raw Story reports, “The White House has scheduled a dinner next week in honor of Pope Benedict XVI’s first visit to the United States, but one guest will be conspicuously absent from the proceedings: the pope himself. There are no competing events listed on the pope’s schedule, and the White House was unable to explain Benedict’s absence from the dinner.” During Friday’s White House press briefing, press spokesman Scott Stanzel was stumped in explaining why the Pope would not attend:
Q: I’m sorry, the Pope doesn’t attend a dinner in his honor?
MR. STANZEL: No.
Q: How does that work?
MR. STANZEL: He doesn’t come into the building.
Q: But then it’s not a dinner for the Pope, is it?
MR. STANZEL: It’s in honor of his visit. There will be leaders from the Catholic community from all over the country who are in town for that visit.
Q: Is there a reason the Pope doesn’t attend the dinner?
MR. STANZEL: I don’t know. I don’t have the full extent of his schedule.
Apparently, the pedophilia and all of that other stuff with the Nazis is okay but the Pope draws the line at war criminals, neo-clowns and their sympathizers. Then again there were some new sins released a few weeks ago:
- 1.) genetic modification
- 2.) carrying out experiments on humans (think depleted uranium, anti-depressants in the water, torture ect.)
- 3.) polluting the environment
- 4.) causing social injustice
- 5.) causing poverty
- 6.) becoming obscenely wealthy
- 7.) taking drugs
Maybe it's the fact that the BCS is guilty of 6 out of 7 of them new sins (2-7 if your counting) that is making the Pope a little leary. I guess he figures, "Man I know I am going to bust hell wide open, so I know I don't want to be anywhere near bushy boy when the wrath comes down!
The Catholic wack jobs that want to make this man a
Saint use this picture as proof of some papal miracle,
when in actuality it portends to his ass burning in hell!
