Mid-Week Music Spotlight - Roy Ayers

11\21\06 "Mid-Week Music Spotlight - Roy Ayers!"

I normally do this on Sunday's before I go watch the football games but for some reason lately I haven't because I haven't felt like it and also because they have been acting like real whores over at youtube...I told you about them cancelling my DustyNutz account...Well they went waaaay beyond that they also banned my ip...Anyway, I sent them a letter...It was nice, surprisingly and they responded with the normal blabbage they do about copyrights eventhough the videos had been uploaded for months before comedy central started acting like a bigger bunch of whores and went through youtube snatching down clips...OR could it be that it's Google and the big youtube merger...Regardless, the account was cancelled! I got another account and I told you guys about that too...Well the other day I go to upload my video clip I was so proud of smashing Bush about his Katrina Response and as soon as I hit upload I get a message about my account is suspended! I just knew I was going to hit the big time and be on Leno talking about it and sh*t but Noooooo...Needless to say I have lost a lot of respect for youtube...I'm still gonna use their bandwidth and the videos they have up if it suits my needs but that is about it!

It has also definitely taken on a whole different vibe at youtube since it has been so commercial-ized, corporat-ized and politic-ized lately like everything else the Hate Machine is putting it's slimy tentacles on...Tentacles remind me of testicles (on) which of course reminds me of teabag and brings me to this: WE The People are getting Tyrannically Teabagged by the Neo-Cons (The Corporate-Christo- Islama- Zino-Fascist Liars)! I guess your thinking what the hell does any of that have to do with Roy Ayers? Read on and you shall see....

Biography
by Richard S. Ginell

Once one of the most visible and winning jazz vibraphonists of the 1960s, then an R&B bandleader in the 1970s and '80s, Roy Ayers' reputation s now that of one of the prophets of acid jazz, a man decades ahead of his time. A tune like 1972's "Move to Groove" by the Roy Ayers Ubiquity has a crackling backbeat that serves as the prototype for the shuffling hip-hop groove that became, shall we say, ubiquitous on acid jazz records; and his relaxed 1976 song "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" has been frequently sampled. Yet Ayers' own playing has always been rooted in hard bop: crisp, lyrical, rhythmically resilient. His own reaction to being canonized by the hip-hop crowd as the "Icon Man" is tempered with the detachment of a survivor in a rough business. "I'm having fun laughing with it," he has said. "I don't mind what they call me, that's what people do in this industry." ... Read More...

"
...Roy Ayers' reputation s now that of one of the prophets of acid jazz, a man decades ahead of his time..." I want to concentrate on this part of Roy Ayers...Every now and then I clean off my desk and I get my DVD's together and they are either labeled Movies Music or
Software and I sort them all out...Well I decide to pop in a DVD with no label and it's just a bunch of songs...Roy Ayer's songs and a light came on...Hey you haven't done a spotlight in a while why not do Roy Ayers and talk about how much ahead of his time he really was...

I used to see Roy in Washington DC at Ft Dupont Park just about every summer I can remember...And I didn't realize it then but Roy was definitely special...Later on as I evolved and learned to appreciate music and started listening to the words I learned a lot of things about me through Roy Ayers music...He talked about things that affect and effects us all within the songs...One of my favorite tracks is a song called "2000 Black" that he wrote in the 70's telling us to think about the future...And we never heard him...At the end of the track there is a chant that goes ..."change the vibe of your mind, save the human race..." Roy saw coming this back then...Roy Ayers was also at the peak of his creativity...It was a chance meeting with Vibraphonist Lionel Hampton that got Roy to switch from piano to vibraphone...The rest is history! Roy released almost 20 albums in ten years! Most of the albums achieved critical acclaim a couple also had a lot of commercial sucess as well...Here is a list of tracks of note from that time...2000 Black, We Live in Brooylyn Baby, A Tear To A Smile, Evolution, Everybody Loves The Sunshine, Searching, Running Away and the remake of Sam Cooke's - You Send Me that Roy definitely made his own...It still takes me a minute to remember how Sam did it after I hear Roy's version...There were also a few stinkers in there as well mainly due to the "blax-ploitation" films going on at the time not to mention the "pro-black" vibe! Remember that skit that Keenan Wayan and Kim used to do where they played Reecy and Cephus and they did the record commercials? Well there are some songs that sound like that but for the most part it was a good time for Roy!

During the 80's he was recording and making music and producing for other artists as the 90 ushered in the jazz hip-hop fusion, he would guest star on cd's such as Guru's fisrt Jazzmatazz or with Donald Byrd...His last release Mahogany Vibe was a collection of remixed tracks with different guest starts one of note was "One Day" featuring Raheem DeVaughan and also a new Go-Go track in tribute to the many shows he did in Ft Dupont park in Washington DC...Roy can still be found touring all over the country...He is a regular at a place called Ronnie Scotts in London...Check out some more on Roy Ayers at his website CLICK HERE! and there is always ALLMUSIC! So enjoy the next couple of videos...

The NFL Week 11 - Post Game Show w/Pics

bitchbegone001

Ha! Haaaaaa! You like that? Probably not if your a 'cowgurls' fan! <*shaking my can*> How you bamma's gonna mess up Peyton and 'Nems perfect season?! 6-4 is just average and you lost to the 'Skins...The Real Deal is the AFC North 8-2 Ravens! Act like you know! Steeler's fans 'bout to find out! What?!...LOL!

I still lost way too many games yesterday! 8 for 16, right above .500, 3rd in my own group 13th in my 'notha group it's just sad! But the Nutz Man gonna get some winner's this Thursday Turkey Day! Okay let's get this agony over with!

I called this one! The Rams are broken somewhere?

Brady Is BACK! 244 yards 4 TD's! No Brainer there!

Vick held on to the ball...He got some big yards on the day! I expected that...I also expected that the Defense would do the job and put the Smack Down without Ray! McNair looks like he wants that ring! And I will give credit to the o line and Jamal Lewis for a job well done...

"The Raiders...What can I say...?" I didn't take them thank goodness! Something told me at the last minute to "STOP PLAYING!" LOL! Ummmm, The Chiefs were not that spectacular by the score but Trent did okay especially in that last drive where he had too!

Carr and crew just can't seem to put that perfect game together yet! The defense is porous and I knew that and picked them anyway...Shame on me!

How bout Dem Fins?! They ona roll...With a side of Fries!

The Bengals D must have heard me talking about them because they definitely stepped up to the plate and we saw the full potential of that Bengals squad...Ravens gotta play them again Sunday night two weeks from now...They are the only team that could beat the Ravens...I doubt it cause we beat them bammas once but this crazy season anything can happen!

DA BEARS! All youo bear haters out there even you Stephen knock it off! If Grossman get's consistent down the stretch and the D can stay healthy might be an interesting play-off race!

Hmmmm, This should end Eagles play-off aspirations! They got whupped up on by the Titans and lost McNabb for the rest of the season...McNabb goes down so don't the Eagles! The Titans are going to be a force to reckon with next season and will probably play spoiler here on out!

Steeler fans were really sweating this one and for a minute it looked like they were going to drop this game to the Brownies! The Champs have to come into Baltimore next weekend where No one get's out alive!

This was the first game of the season I didn't watch the 'Skins...I actually fell asleep! I heard Campbell did alright...Wasn't good enough because they still lost!

The Cards still suck, it is now obvious the Lions Suck Harder!

I got caught up in that Seahawk Hype! I knew the 49's were going to beat them I changed my pick at the last minute!

I was asleep when this was going on yesterday and I awoke to see Peyton with a chance that he blew! Not to mention the Colts defense couldn't make just one more stop when they needed to...Peyton has got to learn to work the clock better in those tough games of "Grind It Out"! The Defense gets tired from beiong on the field so much! Still hating on the cowgurls! Nothings changed!

What ever you wanna call him LaDainian Tomlinson ain't no joke! He is going to smash the record books! The Broncos defense were holding him down for a hot minute but the Bolts got that big offensive line firing and they just ground the Broncos down into dog food! Yo know that is where it comes from right? LOL!

***Monday Night Football***

Just like I been saying all year the Gnats are nothing but media hype sort of like the GOP is and has been the past few years...Eli Manning is average at Best and if it wasn't for the defense and "I Will Not Call Him Tiki" Barber this story would have been over much sooner...The really sad part about them losing and looking so bad, is it makes it that much easier for Tuna and the cowgirls to win the division...Can you imagine the cowgirlie's winning that division with like a 9-7 record...SMH!

I know it's late but it's the first one...I recently stumbled across this song in my files and decided to finally do a video...I had a lot of pics and the song and lyrics fit perfectly...Want to hear them? Hear They Go:

I ain't saying he's a goldigger,

but he ain't messing with no broke niggas
I ain't saying he a goldigger,

but he ain't messing with no broke niggas

George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people

Hurricane came through, fucked us up round here
Government acting like it's bad luck down here
All I know is that you better bring some trucks round here
Wonder why I got my middle finger up round here

People lives on the line you declining to help
Since you taking so much time we surviving our self
Just me and my pets, and my kids, and my spouse, trapped
In my own house looking for a way out (pause)

Five days in this motherfucking attic
Can't use the cellphone I keep getting static
Dying 'cause they lying instead of telling us the truth
Other day the helicopters got my neighbors off the roof (off the roof)

Screwed 'cause they say they coming back for us too
That was three days ago, I don't see no rescue
See a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do
Since God made the path that I'm trying to walk through

Swam to the store, tryin' to look for food
Corner store's kinda flooded so I broke my way through
I got what I could but before I got through
News say the police shot a black man trying to loot

(Who!?) Don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like 'em

I ain't saying he a goldigger,

but he ain't fucking with no broke niggas
I ain't saying he a goldigger,

but he ain't checking for no broke niggas

George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people

Five damn days, five long days
And at the end of the fifth he walking in like "Hey!"
Chilling on his vacation sitting patiently
Them black folks gotta hope, gotta wait and see

If FEMA really comes through in an emergency
But nobody seem to have a sense of urgency
Now the mayor's been reduced to crying
I guess Bush said, "Nigga's been used to dying!"

He said, "I know it looks bad, just have to wait"
Forgetting folks who too broke to evacuate
Niggas starving and they dying of thirst
I bet he had to go and check on them refineries first

Making a killing off the price of gas
He would have been up in Connecticut twice as fast
After all that we've been through nothings changed
You can call Red Cross but the fact remains that...

George Bush ain't a goldigger,

but he ain't fucking with no broke niggas
George Bush ain't a goldigger,

but he ain't fucking with no broke niggas

Come down Bush, c'mon come down
Come down Bush, c'mon come down
Come down Bush, c'mon come down
Come down Bush, c'mon come down

George Bush ain't a goldigger (Hmmn)
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people
George Bush don't like black people

Come down George, c'mon come down
Come down George, c'mon come down
Come down George, c'mon come down
Come down George, c'mon come down

(Fade out)

There is more than just this "Protest Song!" There is a story behind it...There is always a story behind it! DIG!

Protest Hip Hop

Kanye West is a musical powerhouse with the nation's top-selling album at the moment. Now, even the words West utters offstage and outside the recording studio carry weight, and inspire outrage and creativity.

West's harsh criticism of President Bush during a nationally televised benefit concert nearly three weeks ago ratcheted up the volume in an international debate about the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. It also has sparked one of the more potent political protest songs of recent years, George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People, by the Houston rap group the Legendary K.O. Tribune rock critic Greg Kot reports.

In an interview, Randle said he was shocked by the bluntness of West's comments but not their substance. Nickerson lives near the Astrodome and Randle near a convention centre in Houston, both of which are being used to house New Orleans refugees. "Not till you see these people face to face and talk to them can you appreciate the level of hopelessness," said Randle, who by day works as a financial adviser at a Houston bank. "The one common feeling was that they felt abandoned, on their own little island."

Four days after West's comments, the rappers put together the song in their home studios.

"I finished my verse at 6:15 [p.m.], and we had it on the Internet by 6:30 and circulating to our friends and people we know in the music industry," Randle said. The group, which has put out four albums since 1992, claims the song was downloaded for free 10,000 times the first day it was made available on its Web site, www.k-otix.com. Response was so heavy that it crashed the Web site, and Randle said they have been receiving feedback from around the world ever since. `Not just a hip-hop audience' MORE!

Well I hope I don't piss anyone off...Not really! I am just doing a little protesting of my own...This is to remind you, my readers who we are dealing with! One of the finer moments in recent GOP Rule? That's sarcasm folks!...You can also d/l a copy if you are having any problems playing the video (Right Click Save As...)

Do you guy's know the current Secretary Of Hate? Dr. Kindofgreasy Rice-Erroneous?

"The NFL Week 11 Pre-Game Show!"

Okay Imma make this short and sweet today because I got a slight hangover...I only had two shots of Crown last night...Doubles but only 2?! Must have been the purple?!...Hmmmm a little hair of the dog? Maybe?

Alrighty Then...It's getting down to crunch time in the NFL where every loss for a team could mean elimination from the play-offs for those teams still with a chance...We might even see some 10-6 teams make it this year...It is going to be interesting to see...Remember there are a few games on Thursday this week 3 to be exact...One on the Football Network on cable...Hmmmm, not sure how I feel about that yet, not looking good for those of us not stealing cable, I already have to watch my Monday Night games time delayed in still shots cause I dont have cable...Well right now...If you on the Eastside and got the cable hook-up holla at me! Okay, let's get started...First up is...

stlouis @ carolina

The Rams have lost back to back games and are probably going to lose this game today against the Panthers who got back on track last weekend by beating the Bucs 24-10...Take the Panthers! Time: Sunday 1pm TV: FOX...More Info!

newengland @ greenbay

Brady had a bad day last weekend against the Jets...The Patriots were just out played and a fiesty Jets team that nearly beat New England earlier in the season got the job done...Now while the Pack has been playing with renewed life this should be a chance for the Patriots to get back on track...Time Sunday 1pm TV: CBS...More Info!

atlanta_2 @ baltimore_2

Michael Vick cannot come into Baltimore with that wreckless ball handling that has plagued the Falcons the last few weeks...The Ravens are one of the best teams in the league when it comes to giveaway/takeaway stats this season at like +20 or something insane like that...McNair orchestrated a beautiful 20 point comeback last week and the Ravens have a 3 game lead in their division...Take the Ravens @ home Sunday! Time: Sunday 1pm TV: FOX...More Info!

oakland @ kansascity

The Raiders...What can I say...? Ummmm, Art Shell got fined last week for criticizing the Refs, the week before a defensive lineman got fined for kicking a Seahawk player in the groin (nutz), they lost a tough game against the Broncos last weekend and have been looking a little better in terms of playing football...Thuggery they get an A+ (they hold the record don't they?)...Trent Green KC starting QB who has been out with a severe concussion for 10 weeks is going to replace Damon Huard who has been playing better and better as the weeks go by and winning for the Chiefs...I don't think this is a good move but We Shall See...I know the Raiders can't wait to get after Green and it should be interesting to say the least...Let's not forget, the Raiders Beat The Steelers! HA! I am going to go with the Chiefs, but lets not also forget this is a bitter rivalry...Well any game against the Raiders is bitter! Time: Sunday 1pm TV: CBS...More Info!

buffalo @ houston

Hmmmmm, like I've said before I secretly root for the Texans every week..No secret anymore...I like David Carr! No not like that! This week I might even pick them to win though...Might! Buffalo has been a mystery this season looking great at times then really bad the majority...They should be able to get some offense going this week against the Texans last rated defense, but the Texans are coming off their victory against the Jags should have some momentum at home...I guess it comes down to who makes less mistakes...I'm going with the Texans! Time: Sunday 1pm TV: CBS...More Info
!

minnesota @ miami

The Dolphins have had some type of awakening on defense these last couple of games and since beating the Bears DOWN a few weeks ago have been winning! The Vikings are sliding back down the other way...I like the 'Fins on the strength of their defense against the lost offense in Minnesota...They ain't up there tricking again are they? 'Fins and the win! Time: Sunday 1pm TV: FOX...More Info!

cincinnati @ neworleans

The Bengals gave UP 42 points last week in the second half and let the Chargers win a great comeback game for them heartbreaking for the Bengals offense which was in high gear last weekend! FINALLY! Too bad the defense is slipping now when they are needed the most...I guess they are tired now having had to prop up the offense for the first half of the season?! The Saints are no strangers to getting points on the board, close games and winning the close games ask Philly! Should be a good one, I like the Saints in the Dome...Time: Sunday 1pm TV: CBS...More Info!

chicago @ nyjets

The Bears are back in NY this weekend at the same stadium that they beat the Giants down in on Sunday Prime Time...The Bears offense weathered the initial Giants defensive onslaught and then got it going in the second half after some adjustments...The Jets are coming off the big win against the Patriots and should have some confidence on their side but the Gnats were supposed to beat the Bears too!...I like DA BEARS! Time: Sunday 1pm TV: FOX...More Info!

tennesee @ philladelphia

The Eagles put the smack down on the struggling 'Skins last week coming off the bye and look to do the same at Lincoln Fi against the Titans for there second home game in a row...The Titans lost a real heart breaker at home agianst the Ravens by a point in a game where they dominated for three quarters...Vince Young is going to be one of the great QB's in this league and he is going up against one of the NFL's elite in Donavan McNabb...I like the Eagles for the win but it should be a good game and if the Titans go in this one like they did against the Ravens it should be REALLY good! (A Beagle Beatdown?)! Time: Sunday 1pm TV: CBS...More Info!

pittsburgh @ cleveland

Both the Champs and the Brownies have been playing like...Well the Brownies...Pittsburgh looked good against the Saints who had a chance to win that game last week, but the Champs held on to win after a fumble by rookie Reggie Bush seemed to let the air outta the Saints...The Brownies got the win last week shocking the football world over the Falcons...I am still going to go with the Champs but they are going into the Dogg Pound anything can happen! Time Sunday 1pm TV: CBS...More Info!

washington @ tam

The 'Skins are changing QB's and giving their 2nd year rookie draft pick Jason Campbell a chance to get some snaps! I guess that now the Redskins are outta the play-offs they will start playing some football and Gibbs wont feel the need to coach so much and let this team play football...The Bucs are in the same boat but they have less offense than the 'Skins...I gotta go wit my team...Time: Sunday 1pm TV: FOX...More Info!

detroit @ arizona_2

Ummmm, the Lions come "meowing" into Cardinal stadium in Arizona sporting and unimpressive 2-7 record...The Cardinals seem to stink up that brand new stadium every other week or when ever they call themselves playing at home...Ummmm, I am going to go with the Lions cause the Cards just plain SUCK! Time: Sunday 4pm TV: FOX...More Info!

seattle @ sanfrancisco

The Seahawks should be back to full offensive strength against the 49's this week with the returm of Hasselbeck and Alexander but the 49's are on a hot flash...They have won their last two and are one game off of playing .500 ball...I like the Seahawks with the return of their starters...Time: Sunday 4pm TV: FOX...More Info!

indiannapolis @ dallas

The Peyton/Harrison Pitch and Catch Clinic travels down to Texas to take on The Cowgirls this weekend...Nothing can stop the Colts from going undefeated but them...They have shown that as long as there are a couple of seconds on the clock Peyton can get it done...They won by 1 point last weekend...The Girls went to Arizona last week and put the smack down on the Cards, losing to the Skins the week prior (YES!)...I gotta go with the Colts...Time: Sunday 4pm TV: CBS...More Info!

**Sunday Night Football**
chargersheaderlarge

VS

broncosheaderlarge

Before you Bolt fans get excited this is not the Bengals defense that gave up 42 in the second half that the Bolts are going to see this weekend in Denver...The Broncos have the top rated defense in the league with outrageous numbers...I still don't think they are better than the Ravens D, but they have been consistent...Now the Raiders exposed Denver a little last weekend and the Bolts have MEA_Mega O with Philip Rivers going 24-of-36 for 338 yards and three touchdowns, and LaDainian Tomlinson scored 3 rushing TD's also last week in Cincinati...It's should be a good one! I am going with the Bolts! Time: Sunday 8:00pm TV: NBC...More Info!

***Monday Night Football***

nygiants_2 @ jacksonvillegif

The Giants are all busted up and are in need of some defense help...Seems if a team can get past the initial defensive avalanche they throw at you in the first half...A halfway decent pass rush from the Jags and someone watching "I Will Not Call Him Tiki" Barber and that tight end what's his name this shoulod be a win for the Jags...But they last to the TEXANS...Ohhh man, is Leftwich back? I still like the Jags they just need to stop turning the football over! Time: Monday 8:30 pm TV: ESPN...More Info!

I will be back later with some other goodies for you guys...Enjoy your Saturday! Hope your team wins even if it is the Cowgirls! Don't forget there are 3 games on this Thanksgiving...Boy my ass is in heaven...Good Food and Football all day! N*gga What?!? Imma be happier than a fag wit a bag of dicks!
