"Flag Stats!"

I saw this over at Crooks & Liars and I thought it was interesting, but I will let the guy who started it explain.

MEET THE WORLD

Icaro Doria is Brazilian, 25 and has been working for the magazine Grande Reportagem, in Lisbon, Portugal, for the last 3 years. He is part of the team (with Luis Silva Dias, João Roque, Andrea Vallenti and João Roque) that produced the flags campaign which has been circulating the Earth in chain letters via e-mail. Icaro gave us a small statement about the campaign, translated by Isabell Erdmann:

The magazine Revista Grande Reportagem is a Hard Journalism magazine, on the same line as the Times. The idea was to bring across the concept that the magazine offers profound journalism about topics of real importance to the world of today.

This is how we thought of the concept Meet the World.

We started to research relevant, global, and current facts and, thus, came up with the idea to put new meanings to the colours of the flags. We used real data taken from the websites of Amnesty International and the UNO.

The campaign has been running in Portugal since January 2005. There are eight flags that portray very current topics like the division of opinions about the war in Iraq in the United States, the violence against women in Africa, the social inequality in Brazil, the drug trafficking in Columbia, Aids and malaria in Angola, etc.

With regards to the email presenting the campaign as being done by a Norwegian diplomat, this information is completely wrong. There is no Norwegian diplomat called Charung Gollar, there was no presentation in the UNO, and the campaign is not called ‘The Power of the Stars’. This was all invented and is going round the world via email.

I bet that number of Americans that don't know where Iraqnam is, is much higher! The red stripes should be the folks that don't know where Iraqnam is and the blue would be the folks that want this bullshit occupation.

I guess Juan Valdez said the hell with using the cocaine to grow more coffee, cut out the middle man and just sell straight coke!

Wal-Mart loves that cheap child labor from China and Americans love Wal-Mart!

The only reason people are still dying from diseases like malaria and tuberculosis is the evil Big Pharma! The fact that people are still dying from AIDS related illnesses and cancers and just about anything over the last 60 years is that there is NO MONEY in the cure. Here's an idea, end the conditions that cause these kinds of illnesses and diseases. Give the people clean drinking water, better sanitation and better nutrition! Nope they would rather spend 12 billion a month in Iraqnam and Afghanistan for death and destruction! You could take two months worth of death and destruction and end world hunger for 5 years.

However, that is not the plan, the master plan calls for a thinning out of the world population. The genocide in Africa is part of a plan, it becomes fairly obvious when you look at it with open eyes. All those kids in Burkina! We can end world hunger and poverty but we won't?! It is population control! Eugenics, and not the good kind.

Imma make a flag...The WAKE UP FLAG! Big ass sleeping sheeple as the logo,with a guy with a hot poker about to stick it up the sleeping sheeples ass to wake him up!
