"Calvinball!"

Calvinball is better by far! It's never the same, it's always bizarre!

The Unofficial Official Rules of Calvinball

Permanent Rule: You may not play the Calvinball the same way twice.

Primary Rule: The following rules are subject to be changed, amended, or deleted by any player(s) involved. These rules are not required, nor necessary to play Calvinball.

1.0. The following words in these rules are mostly freely interchangeable, the Primary Rule applies:

§ Can

§ May

§ Must

§ Shall

§ Should

§ Will

§ Would

1.1. All players must wear a Calvinball mask (See Calvinball Equipment - 2.1). No one may question the masks (Figure 2.1).

1.2 Any player may declare a new rule at any point in the game (Figure 1.2). The player may do this audibly or silently depending on what zone (Refer to Rule 1.5) the player is in.

1.3. A player may use the Calvinball (See Calvinball Equipment - 2.2) in any way the player see fits, whether it be to incur injury upon other players or to gain benefits for himself.

1.4. Any penalty legislation may be in the form of pain, embarassment, or any degradation the rulee wishes to execute upon the other player.

1.5 The Calvinball Field (See Calvinball Equipment - 2.3) should consist of areas, or zones, which are governed by a set of rules declared by players. Zones may be appear and disappear as often and wherever the player decides. For example, a corollary zone would enable a player to make a corollary (sub-rule) to any rule already made. Or a pernicious poem place would require the intruder to do what the name implies. Or an opposite zone would enable a player to declare reverse playibility on the others. (Remember, the player would declare this zone oppositely by not declaring it.) (Figure 1.5a and 1.5b)

1.6 Flags (Calvinball Equipment 2.3) shall be named by players whom shall also assign the power and rules which shall govern that flag (Figure 1.6).

1.7 Songs are an integral part of Calvinball and verses must be sung spontaneously through the game when randomly assigned events occur.

1.8 Score may be kept or disregarded. In the event that score is kept, it shall have no bearing on the game nor shall it have any logical consistency to it. (Legal scores include 'Q to 12', 'BW-109 to YU-34, and 'Nosebleed to Pelvic Fracture'.)

Calvinball Equipment

2.1. Mask - All participants are required to wear a mask - Figure 1.1

2.2. Calvinball - A Calvinball may be a soccerball, volleyball, or any other reasonable ball. Bowling balls are accepted. - Figure 2.1a and Figure 2.1b

2.3 Calvinball Field - The Calvinball Field should be any well-sized field, preferably with trees, rocks, grass, creeks, and other natural obstacles.

2.4 Miscellaneous - Other optional equipment include flags, wickets (especially of the time-fracture variety), and anything else the players wish to include (Figure 2.4).

Special Thanks to the Calvinball Founders Bill Watterson, Calvin, and Hobbes.

Think About It Tuesday - Intelligent Falling?!"

I been away a week and I really did miss posting...This is something new I tried a week ago but I was being smeared behind my back and it really went unnoticed...Real high school shit!

Think About It Tuesday is the day I expose the utter stupidity and sheer idiocy of the religious right and hypocritical christians...When I saw this I thought to my self you got to be bullshitting me...

Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Theory...

Yup, that is what I said...Intelligent Falling?! I guess they are still teaching the earth is flat and only 6000 years old also...YEAH THEY ARE! I will get to that in a sec...The Onion:

KANSAS CITY, KS—As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held "theory of gravity" is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.

Evangelical

Rev. Gabriel Burdett explains Intelligent Falling.

"Things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, 'God' if you will, is pushing them down," said Gabriel Burdett, who holds degrees in education, applied Scripture, and physics from Oral Roberts University. MORE! (my emphasis)

I really, really feel sorry for my friends in Kansas...Get Out D! (wink) save yourself!! I shouldn't have to point out the real obvious, but first and foremost there is absolutely no way that you can call yourself a scientist and come up with any of those conclusions about gravity...There are a lot of black people even some on these boards who have these divinity degrees and think like this also...My own mother might have a few, but they are based in beliefs not science or reality for that matter...No physicist in his right mind is going to tell you there is no gravity when it has been proven to exist and that the influence of our rotating and spinning it causes magnetic fields that are the basis of gravity...Their premise that things just fall because God pushes them is just Insane!

Now far be it from me to ridicule anyones beliefs...*BLANK STARE* but give me a break...Can you see how this would terrify a rational thinking human being?! I don't care what that idiot thinks but for him to want to try and teach our children that bullshit is Unacceptable! You can believe in what ever fairy tales and myths you want to but DO NOT TEACH THE KIDS THAT CRAP! This is the state of America today...These are the people in power...

This is another example of Religious Insanity...From The LA Times:

Note to would-be Creation Museum visitors: the Earth is round.
May 24, 2007

THE CREATION MUSEUM, a $27-million tourist attraction promoting earth science theories that were popular when Columbus set sail, opens near Cincinnati on Memorial Day. So before the first visitor risks succumbing to the museum's animatronic balderdash — dinosaurs and humans actually coexisted! the Grand Canyon was carved by the great flood described in Genesis! — we'd like to clear up a few things: "The Flintstones" is a cartoon, not a documentary. Fred and Wilma? Those woolly mammoth vacuum cleaners? All make-believe.

Science is under assault, and that calls for bold truths. Here's another: The Earth is round. MORE!

LMMAO! So I guess the Jetson's are how these mental patients view the future?! Seriously if you believe Dinosaurs walked they earth with humans or what is that bs they were trying to tell me in Sunday School, that God put dinosaur bones here on Earth to test their faith or some other such nonsense, please come talk to me...I would love to hear your thought processes...I think I know the big push behind all this creationist crap and it's the new movie Evan Almighty...This is how they are drumming up support for this and the rest of the theme parks...Check out the video and more importantly the comments over at youtube...I have to agree that anytime you hold yourself up like that spouting stupid insane bullshit you should be ridiculed...What a waste of $27 million dollars...Can you imagine all the folks that could have fed and for how long?! They would rather raise another icon of Stupidity to Stupidity!

Intelligent Design or this latest crap Intelligent Falling is not science it is a belief in some crazy ass bullshit that they want to start teaching our kids...Don't let them do it!

"Cholecystitis Or This Has Got To Be What It Feels Like To Be Dying!"

I don't know if you ever had it, I sincerely hope you haven't but that has got to be the closest I have ever been to just laying down in the street and letting a truck or something put me out of my misery...Like the nurse said I could never have a baby...I was actually doubled over in my house on Wednesday crying like a baby bitch, but I am getting ahead of myself as usual...Friday went down with no problems...Had two beers and a shot of Crown and chilled...Woke up Saturday felt a little hung over and I thought that strange but just shrugged it off as I was tired from little sleep yada yada...Still had a good day Saturday and hung out with a friend all night...'Bout 2 am I felt this familiar pain that I have been having for the past six months...It starts in the pit of my stomach and radiates out, makes me dizzy and nauseous but then usually fades away...This Sunday it didn't want to go anywhere...

Cholecystitis

What is cholecystitis?

Cholecystitis is an inflammation of the gallbladder wall and nearby abdominal lining. Cholecystitis is usually caused by a gallstone in the cystic duct, the duct that connects the gallbladder to the hepatic duct. Other causes of cholecystitis may include the following:

  • bacterial infection in the bile duct system

The bile duct system is the drainage system that carries bile from the liver and gallbladder into the area of the small intestine called the duodenum.

  • tumor of the pancreas or liver

  • decreased blood supply to the gallbladder

This can sometimes occur in persons with diabetes.

  • gallbladder "sludge"

This "sludge" is a thick material that cannot be absorbed by bile in the gallbladder and most commonly occurs in pregnant women or individuals who have experienced a rapid weight loss.

Cholecystitis can occur suddenly or gradually over many years.

What are the symptoms of cholecystitis?

A typical attack of cholecystitis usually lasts two to three days. The following are the most common symptoms of gallstones. However, each individual may experience symptoms differently. Symptoms may include:

  • intense and sudden pain in the upper right part of the abdomen

  • recurrent painful attacks for several hours after meals

  • pain (often worse with deep breaths and extends to lower part of right shoulder blade)

  • nausea

  • vomiting

  • rigid abdominal muscles on right side

  • slight fever

  • chills

  • jaundice - yellowing of the skin and eyes.

  • itching (rare)

  • loose, light-colored bowel movements

  • abdominal bloating....MORE!

Nasty stuff...Because my gall bladder was pretty bad off it had stated an UI infection, so I was actually a lot closer to dying than I actually realized...

So all day Sunday I was laying in the bed trying to find some peace and comfort that never came...The whole time I thinking when is the pain going to pass...You know asking yourself or God or whoever you call out to in those situations, why me, what I do ...?!? It was that last beer...I knew it! I had know idea other than something was really bad inside...On top of the pain the infection was causing, it was also producing a lot of excess gas my body could not handle or expel...That made it twice as worse because it was all this pressure and pain...At times it felt as though I was having a heart attack...Don't really know how but I made it through the night keeping my wife up all night with me thrashing about and moaning and groaning in her ears...Well she was really upset at seeing me in such pain and made me finally get up on Monday and go to the doctors...

This is the part where I normally bash Kaiser for a few minutes, however on this particular day A Kaiser Dr came through with flying colors...She took pictures of my stomach, and took a look at my urine and said I was either passing a kidney stone or trying to pass one...My pressure was really high but I attribute that to the pain I was in and the fact I was a little stressed for getting sick and wanting to fire off a few choice words...But that was a continuing theme throughout this whole ordeal...My blood pressure...

Here's the funny part, well not exactly funny, the ironic part...Dr Kaiser sent me to the hospital and I knew I should have went to GBMC but my stepfather was already over at St. Agnes and I was trying to take care of two birds with one stone...Again bad move going to Agnes...First and foremost they barely managed my pain and they couldn't find anything wrong after being there all day...The only good thing about going to St. Agnes was the fact that while they gave us a lot of worthless prescriptions, the Percocet got me through the night...I do not do pain well!

Wednesday morning was the worse...I had also made up my mind that if the stone hadn't passed or I hadn't I was going back to the hospital...This time to GBMC because Dr Kaiser had the best diagnosis so far...Apparently the wife and I were on the same page...I do remember missing one call from her because of one time the phone dropping on the floor, but apparently I passed out a couple of time because she said she had called several times...When we finally did connect she was like, "I am on my way get dressed..." I was!

An hour later I was being wheeled down into the ultrasound where a slick little tech found the culprit...The Er Doc checked the pictures and then came in and explained them to me told me what my options were...They could relive my pain and make it manageable clean my gall bladder up with antibiotics and send me home to come back in a few months in the same pain or get the gall bladder removed and get on with life...Of course I would never ever want to experience the pain I was in on Tuesday and Wednesday again and chose for the operation...

I had my heart all set for Nilla from Er that pretty actress from "Bend It Like Beckham"...I get her father or could have been grandfather...Dr Vjay I believe...He was ready to cut to...Kaiser is always trying out some new toys at GBMC...When my wife was there getting a procedure done they were using a new piece of equipment and just so happens they were doing the same this time...So all the surgeons wanna get to play with the new toys but Dr Vjay wasn't a Kaiser Dr so he didn't get the go ahead...You know Kaiser gotta have they people come in to make sure it's worth the money for the operation...I ended up staying the night and being admitted until the Kaiser Dr could see me and talk to me...That first night is really murder...

You already know hospitals are not for resting but healing right?! Cause as long as your in pain there is no rest anyway...I love GBMC in this regard...They do not play with your pain! They are first and foremost concerned with how your feeling...I was loving the Toradol...The only thing that was wrong with it was the fact that it could only be taken every 8 hours...But in the meantime I was getting a shot of dilaudid every four hours...The pain still crept through but it was a lot more manageable...That is when I took the saluting pic from the bed...I was high as giraffe ass!

Had a great surgeon, Dr Flowers...He finally came in Thursday morning and explained what was going to be happening how, where and why he was cutting me and doing the operation...Made me feel real at ease about his competence and that things were going to be alright...Ohhh, I didn't tell you this was my first operation or hospital stay?! Very first...I am kind of sad because for 40 years I could say I was a healthy as an Ox never been hospitalized or operated on...Until now! The operation was set for the afternoon...

I got transported to the operating room about 3 pm...Here is the scary part...They can know make you regress in time a few hours with the anesthesia now...I remember folks talking about counting down and passing out...The last thing I remember was getting off my bed unto the hospital table...The whole operating room scene is pretty freaky if you ask me...All these people standing around and it's cold and machines everywhere...All I can think of is they might have implanted a chip in my arm while I was there...But I'm a paranoid writer wannabe who has seen way too many movies so that is kind of understandable...I do know that when they finally took that gall bladder out the pain went away! They used
laparoscopic surgery...The name of my procedure was a laparoscopic cholecystectomy...I have four little holes, two on my right side one over my stomach and one over my belly button....After I went back to my room and slept the last of the anethesia off, I woke up feeling like my old self...Short of the operation pain aka healing pains I felt like I was ready to go...But since Imma old guy and kind of litigious they decided to keep me until Saturday...Make sure I didn't get any infection and make sure the infection I had passed...They pumped me so full of fluids, potassium chloride and antibiotics in particular, I actually squished when I walked...That was the hardest part...Jumping up and down to pee...I hope I can go back on a streak now and not have to go back to the hospital for another 42 years! Keep doing the things I been doing just adding a lot more water to the mix...

In short I guess I have been suffering with and through this for a few years now...I knew it was something wrong when for a stretch of about 6 months everything I ate gave me indigestion...These last 6 months it had culminated into a ever increasing in frequency event...I looked forward to it, got it out of the way and moved on...I was wondering why two drinks were making me throw up violently...I thought I was drinking too much...I probably am/was but it did seem less was having more impact...If you feel any of them symptoms above coming on do not play with it...Save your self some time and pain, go to the hospital tell them to do an ultrasound on ya gall bladder and get it removed...

The Weekly (D)Wrap-Up - The Enemies Of The State!"

Well if it is Friday it's time for the Weekly (C)Wrap-Up! Been a busy week in Bizarro World so strap in and let's ride! First up and I brought you this information yesterday in a post entitled "You Can't Make This Shit Up - The Smoking Gun?!?"

You remember that scene in the Will Smith/Gene Hackman flick "Enemy Of the State" where Jon Voight's character was sweating the Senator to pass very similar "spying" legislation at the lake before he killed him? Yeah, it's kinda like that...Except Gonzales and Card left short of killing Ashcroft...However, they did go ahead an put their plan into effect after both Ashcroft while still acting AG didn't approve it then, and the acting AG Comey didn't either...If this behavior is not criminal it is very very close...From Time:

Was Gonzales' Emergency Visit Illegal?

...In response to questions on the legality of Gonzales' hospital room conversation, Dean Boyd, a spokesman for the National Security Division of the Justice Department, said, "I am not going to speculate on discussions that may or may not have taken place, much less attempt to render a legal judgment on any such discussions." A Senate investigator says the Judiciary Committee is weighing whether to investigate the matter formally. One consideration will be whether the Justice department itself decides it should be investigated. Gonzales, as head of the department, would be conflicted in the matter. "The fact that you have a potential case against the Attorney General himself calls for the most scrupulous and independent of investigations," says Georgetown's Katyal.

For all the questions concerning any potential violation the conversation may represent, others are more disturbed by the apparent contradiction between the Administration's unusual secrecy about the program and Gonzales' and Card's apparent willingness to discuss it in the open. Initially only eight members of Congress were informed of the program's existence, a strict legal requirement, and after it came to light the Administration refused repeated demands from both Republicans and Democrats for a closed briefing on the program for the entire intelligence committees of the House and Senate.

Weeks after the program was revealed in the New York Times in December of 2005, President Bush held a news conference to address it and said, "It's important for people to understand that this program is so sensitive and so important, that if information gets out [on] how we do it, or how we operate, it will help the enemy." Asked about the hospital visit at a press conference today, President Bush declined to provide specifics, saying that the program was "highly classified." Bush also declined to say whether he himself had authorized Gonzales to have the conversation with Ashcroft, as Comey suggested during his testimony may have been the case. MORE!

Yesterday when questioned about the Comey claims that He gave the authorization to go visit Ashcroft the Commander guy, our dear beloved Decider said he would not answer the questions, but you know he had something to say and that was this from Crooks & Liars:

msnbc-bush.jpg It's hard to overstate the importance of Former Deputy AG James Comey's incredible testimony earlier this week. At a press conference today with outgoing British PM Tony Blair, NBC's Kelly O'Donnell asked President Bush about Comey's startling allegations. Needless to say, he refuses to answer the question and instead opts to remind us how much the Evil Scary Islamofascists want to kill us, and how Very Important this program is in order to "protect" us.

video_wmv Download (4227) | Play (4908) video_mov Download (1715) | Play (2917) (rough transcript)

O'Donnell: There's been some very dramatic testimony before the Senate this week from one of your former top justice department officials, who describes a scene that some Senators called stunning about a time when the warrantless wiretap program was being reviewed. Sir, did you send your then chief of staff and White House counsel to the bedside of John Ashcroft, while he was ill to get him to approve os that program and do you believe that kind of conduct from White House officials is appropriate?

Bush: Kelly, there's a lot of speculation about what happened and what didn't happen and I'm not going to talk about it…It's a very sensitive program…

John Amato: Why didn't Bush just answer "no" to the question?

Update: Greenwald has a great post up: "What will be done about James Comey's revelations?

James Comey's testimony amounts to a statement that — even according to the administration's own loyal DOJ officials — the President ordered still-unknown spying on Americans, and engaged in that spying for a full two-and-a-half-years, that was so blatantly and shockingly illegal that they were all ready to resign over it. And the President's Attorney General then lied to ensure that this episode remain concealed. Mere one-day calls for a Congressional investigation are woefully inadequate here…read on

I am with Amato here...Why didn't Shrub say he didn't do it? Or yes he did if there was nothing improper about it?! He did remind us though that "our enemies want to do us harm!" I am surprised he did give a complimentary 911 remark...When don't our enemies want to do us harm?!

The fact that the President implemented the program even after the DOJ refused to sign off on it is "IMPEACHABLE!" From Salon:

Comey's testimony raises new and vital questions about the NSA scandal

(Updated below - Update II - Update III - Update IV)

The testimony yesterday from James Comey re-focuses attention on one of the long unresolved mysteries of the NSA scandal. And the new information Comey revealed, though not answering that question decisively, suggests some deeply troubling answers. Most of all, yesterday's hearing underscores how unresolved the entire NSA matter is -- how little we know (but ought to know) about what actually happened and how little accountability there has been for some of the most severe and blatant acts of presidential lawbreaking in the country's history. MORE!

The problem is that ABC or CBS hasn't once reported on this story...The "Liberal Media"...Yeah right or is that left?!

Since this is called the Enemies of the state issue I guess I got to mention the rest of the criminals that are running around acting like they are above the law...I wanted to start with AG but there is bigger fish to fry...Cheney for example...From Think Progress:

Cheney seeks immunity in Plame lawsuit.

Attorneys for Vice President Cheney, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby said “told a federal judge today they cannot be held liable for anything they disclosed to reporters about covert CIA officer Valerie Plame or her husband, former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV.” Cheney’s attorney argued that the vice president is “legally akin to the president because of his unique government role, and has absolute immunity from any lawsuit.” May 17, 2007 7:38 pm | Comment (84)

First thing is he is not immune or exempted from prosecution that is a presidential thing and although he is "acting" president he is not the president...
Also if he is innocent why is he asking for immunity? These people are not above the law...The Rule of Law that they claimed they were bringing back when they stole the election in 2k...ITMA!

What discussion about "Enemies of the State" would be complete without an appearance from Abu Al Gonzales...I mean he literally was at what could have been Ashcroft's death bed sweating him about a program that he wouldn't sign off on because he thought it was illegal...Who would have thought Ashcroft was a champion of civil liberties ...But I digress...This is not much but maybe a step in the right direction...From The WaPo:

No-Confidence Vote Sought on Gonzales

Washington Post Staff Writers
Friday, May 18, 2007; Page A03

Two leading Senate Democrats called for a vote of no confidence in Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales yesterday as political pressure for his resignation intensified in the wake of revelations about the plan to dismiss U.S. attorneys and Gonzales's role in a 2004 government crisis.

Sources yesterday identified four additional prosecutors who were considered for termination, bringing to 30 the number of prosecutors who were placed on Justice Department firing lists between February 2005 and December 2006. That accounts for about a third of the nation's 93 U.S. attorney positions. Nine were fired last year.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales speaks at a news maker event, Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at the National Press Club in Washington. (AP Photo/Ron Edmonds)Attorney General Alberto Gonzales speaks at a news maker event, Tuesday, at the National Press Club in Washington. (Ron Edmonds - AP

Hoping to pounce on Gonzales's sagging support among Senate Republicans, Sens. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said they will offer the no-confidence resolution on the Senate floor as early as next week. MORE!

There is no real weight behind the resolution, and I guess the hope is the embarrassment of getting a no confidence vote will make him resign but that is not likely because these people know no shame! The best part of all of this is the full page ad his peers from Harvard took out in the WaPo...From Democratic Underground:

Dear Attorney General Gonzales:

Twenty-five years ago we, like you, graduated from Harvard Law School. While we arrived via many different paths and held many different views, we were united in our deep respect for the Constitution and the rights it guaranteed. As members of the post-Watergate generation who chose careers in law, we understood the strong connection between our liberties as Americans and the adherence of public offi cials to the law of the land. We knew that the choice to abide by the law was even more critical when public officials were tempted to take legal shortcuts. Nowhere were we taught that the ends justified the means, or that freedoms for which Americans had fought and died should be set aside when inconvenient or challenging. To the contrary: our most precious freedoms, we learned, need defending most in times of crisis.

So it has been with dismay that we have watched your cavalier handling of our freedoms time and again. When it has been important that legal boundaries hold unbridled government power in check, you have instead used pretextual rationales and strained readings to justify an ever-expanding executive authority. Witness your White House memos sweeping aside the Geneva Conventions to justify torture, endangering our own servicemen and women; witness your advice to the President effectively reading Habeas Corpus out of our constitutional protections; witness your support of presidential statements claiming inherent power to wiretap American citizens without warrants (and the Administration’s stepped-up wiretapping campaign, taking advantage of those statements, which continues on your watch to this day); and witness your dismissive explanation of the troubling firings of numerous U.S. Attorneys, and their replacement with others more "loyal" to the President’s politics, as merely "an overblown personnel matter." In these and other actions, we see a pattern. As a recent editorial put it, your approach has come to symbolize "disdain for the separation of powers, civil liberties and the rule of law." MORE!

That has got to hurt! S-M-A-C-K! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy though...LIAR! He was so proud of himself too when he was trying to put all the weight on Comey...Enough of that cockroach...

We have to talk about that neo-clown Wolfowitz also...Now he said he was going to resign but he was definitely "pushed" out...He is one of the Neo-Clowns that pushed really hard for this Occupation in Iraq...From TP:

World Bank reacts to Wolfowitz resignation:

“‘Everyone ran into the hallways and were clapping and hugging each other,’ one employee, who declined to be named, said.” 12:20 am | Comment (49)

You know the decider was all broke up about his people's getting canned...I guess Wolfie will be getting his Medal of Honor soon though...The real kicker is the girlfriend that ultimately got him fired has left him also...Just rumors but it would be poetic justice...

Okay this is part two...

Let's start with Abu Al...Senator Schumer ripped into him and this administration...From Crooks & Liars:

Chuck Schumer Rips Into Gonzales

Hardball-Schumer-Gonzales Thursday night on "Hardball", Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) talked with Chris Matthews about Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and the impending vote of no confidence in the Senate. Schumer gives what is probably the most frank and harsh criticism of Gonzales heard publicly from any member of Congress to date. Following the devastating testimony from former Deputy Attorney General James Comey this past Tuesday, Schumer, like most Americans, is stunned and disturbed by what he heard and renews his call for Gonzales to step down.

video_wmv Download (3866) | Play (4534) video_wmv Download (1527) | Play (2888)

Schumer: "The Attorney General, unlike all the others, doesn't just follow the President's orders, but he's the chief law enforcement officer of the land. And the antics, what we saw went on, is reminiscent of something in a third world dicatatorship, not the United States of America and it's hard to believe that the President and his inner circle doesn't get that."

It is getting to be a little ridiculous...They have reduced a once great republic to the laughing stock of the world...They act like it's no big deal...Like I stated above, The Medal Of honor should be jumping around Abu's neck soon...Heckuva' Job Gonzo!

Still no movement on the funding bill...The Dem's made a lot of compromises but the Shrub refuses to play ball...Crooks:

House Democratic leaders write a letter: UPDATED with Video

pelosi-cnn.jpg Dana Bash: Well, from what we just heard from Democrats right after this meeting this morning with the White House, they are anywhere but at a compromise on how to fund the war. In fact, Democratic leaders, the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, just had a press conference, and they essentially said that they are going to now write this bill on their own, because, what they said is that the White House is simply not allowing them to hold the President accountable. Listen to what the House Speaker said…

video_wmv Download (1223) | Play (1183) QT later

Nancy Pelosi: …Clear that the difference between the Democrats and the President is the issue of accountability. He will not accept any accountability or responsibility for what is happening there. MORE!

You can read the whole letter by clicking the more link above...

That is about it for me...I wanted to add some Jon Stewart clips but the embed function is not working for me so you can use the d/l links for this one from Crooks:

Jon Stewart Catches Gonzales Lying About McNulty

tds-gonzo-comey.jpg Deputy AG Paul McNulty played a negligible role in the USA purge. Well, until he announced his resignation; then he was blamed for the entire thing. Memo to Gonzo: We don't throw away the old tapes of what you say. Jon juxtaposes the two contradictory statements and breaks down the significance of the blockbuster Comey testimony.

Gonzales on April 19: “Looking back, things that I would have done differently…? I think I would have had the Deputy Attorney General more involved, directly involved.”

Gonzales on May 15: “The Deputy Attorney General would know best about the qualifications and experiences of the minds; it’s a community and he signed off on the names.”

BTW, Don't forget this man wants to be your next president and is actually the front-runner for the GOP...Bwahahahahahahahahahahaaa....

On the 15th Former Deputy Attorney General James Comey testified before the committee investigating "Attorney-Gate"...They thought it was going to be more testimony about the "Purge" but they ended up with a "Smoking Gun?"...From Crooks & Liars:

Former Deputy Attorney General James Comey seems to have raised eyebrows throughout the political world with his Senate Judiciary Committee testimony yesterday. While the prosecutor purge was supposed to be the key topic of the hearing, Comey’s story about the 2004 reathorization of the NSA warrantless-search program turned out to be the big news.

As Anonymous Liberal put it, “Comey’s testimony today reads like the script of a Hollywood movie."

Watch Comey tell this truly amazing story:

Dan Froomkin said, "Former Deputy Attorney General James Comey's gripping testimony yesterday about his high-speed race to then-Attorney General John Ashcroft's hospital bedside — and the ensuing standoff with senior White House aides over the administration's warrantless wiretapping program — may turn out to be the political-scandal equivalent of the tune nobody can get out of their heads."

More like a "smoking gun" to me...You remember that scene in the Will Smith/Gene Hackman flick "Enemy Of the State" where Jon Voight's character was sweating the Senator to pass very similar "spying" legislation at the lake before he killed him? Yeah, it's like that...

Ashcroft was on what could have been his death bed and Abu Al was trying to get him to sign an order that he had previously expressed concern over and refused...They ignored the acting AG at the time, Comey and BANG! Millions of innocent people are spied on daily in the name of National Security! When there was provisions in the FISA Act that already addressed all of the Decider's concerns...

There was another great Frontline documentary on also called "Spying On The Homefront"You really have to see it...From Crooks:

pbs-gonzales.jpg PBS Frontline's "Spying on the Home Front" last night was downright chilling. Although there were no major blockbuster revelations, they painted a very clear and complete picture of the Bush administration's vastly expanded domestic surveillance programs and their impact on civil liberties. This clip shows how Alberto Gonzales was very careful during his Senate testimony on the NSA warrantless wiretapping program exposed by the New York Times in December 2005. On numerous occasions he made it abundantly clear that he was only testifying on that specific program, which leads one to conclude that there are likely other (and more intrusive) domestic spying programs in place. Indeed, when Sen. Feinstein asks him if there are any other programs, he literally says "I don't know how to answer that."

In case you missed it, I highly recommend watching the entire thing on the PBS website. This is by far the most comprehensive report to date on the extent and severity of the Bush administration's post-9/11 domestic surveillance activities.

Let's not also forget that this administration has not complied with the recent subpoena from Congress to turn over the Rove emails pertinent to the Purge Scandal...Keith Olbermann was talking to Howard Fineman and you got to see the clip of Gonzales...Like Fineman said he looked like he was doing all he could not to break out in a big cheesy grin while he was making his announcement that the "Purge" was all Comey fault...Watch the video from Crooks & Liars:

These scandals are getting hard to keep up with, huh? This is what happens when that little thing called "oversight" is exercised. And to think, we're only four months into the Democratic majority.

This Administrations missteps and sheer stupidity would be a hit comedy if it wasn't so tragic...

"SC Rethugliclan Debate - Base Jumping At It's Finest!"

Okay if you didn't hear by now your really in sad shape but the 2nd rethugliclan debate was held last night in South Carolina...Yeah I know *BIG YAAAWN* however, just like in the last rethug debate one candidate stood out...Ron Paul...Can He Save Conservatism? The Real Conservatism not this Bizzaro World Conservatism the 28% practice...I guess I need to explain the title of the post also...Base jumping is an extreme "sport" where you jump off a mountain, building or other structure that is high in the air with a parachute on...ie DUMBSHIT! Well in politics "base jumping" refers to pandering to the most extreme views of the people that support you...The 28%'ers that still believe War is Peace, black is white and America is on the right track under the leadership of Our Dear Decider...

Last night while watching the debates it really struck me how truly insane these GOP Candidates are...Each one trying to out tough the next one and trying to get the 28%er's all riled up By invoking 911, terrorism, torture and fear...I am just going to highlight a few things and let this one go...

First off is the fact the only candidate on the stage last night with any kind of true political convictions was systematically attacked by the moderators (Faux Noise & Shit Hume), and fellow candidates...From Crooks & Liars:

GOPII-Debate-Paul

Was there any doubt this was going to happen?

video_wmv Download (3646) | Play (4457) video_mov Download (1590) | Play (3064)

Wallace: "Congressman Paul, you're one of six house Republicans who back in 2002 voted against authorizing President Bush to use force in Iraq. Now you say we should pull our troops out. A recent poll found that 77% of Republicans dissaprove of the idea of setting a timetable for withdrawal. Are you running for the nomination of the wrong party?"

Paul: "You-you have to realize that the base of the Republican Party shrunk last year because of the war issue, so that percentage represents less people. If you look at 65-70% of the American people, they want us out of there, they want the war over."

As a side note, John McCain's campaign has been urging supporters to spam conservative blogs to give the appearance that he won the debate.

Now normally I would be cheering about the Rethugs eating their own but this case is particularly telling because you can see the obvious pattern of Faux and the MSM (Faux Noise is propaganda not news) trying to minimize Paul's call for a return of true conservatism...Instead they keep pushing the same extreme points...The one that disturbed me the most is the question about torture?!? WTF?!? How cna anyone of them be taken seriously and why is Tancredo Brownback and the other "Un-Intelligent Designers" still in the debates...Their answers on evolution should have eliminated them from the door...Anyway I noticed there is a lot of flack about exactly who won the debate...For a long time last night Ron Paul was leading in ALL polls...Fox kept theirs open and urged folks to vote for anyone but Ron Paul...I think the Cultist Mitt Romney finally got enough votes so that they could close their poll...This MSNBC Poll results show clearly that the people watching not including the 28%er's, liked the things Ron Paul was saying...From MSNBC:

Clearly if your not delusional Ron Paul won this debatye and it shows just where the American Public is really at in respects to The Republican party...

The next thing that really concerns me is the talk about torture...From Crooks:

GOPII-Romney-Guantanamo

During the second GOP debate, Fox News' Brit Hume sets up a hypothetical situation where three terrorist attacks occur at shopping malls in major cities. A fourth attack is thwarted and that would-be attacker, who we know has information about an impending, larger attack is captured and taken to Guantanamo Bay. The candidates are asked if they believe Torture Enhanced Interrogation Techniques, including waterboarding, should be used to get information from the detainee.

video_wmv Download (2713) | Play (2862) video_mov Download (1280) | Play (2135)

McCain - No on Torture Enhanced Interrogation Techniques

Giuliani - Yes on Torture Enhanced Interrogation Techniques

Romney - Yes on Torture Enhanced Interrogation Techniques and while you're at it, Double Guantanamo! (loud applause from audience)

Double Gitmo?!? Here is another take on the torture question from last night...Crooks:

Brit Hume tackles the question of torture at the Republican debate by describing a doomsday scenario that comes right out of the op-ed pages of the NY Post and Surnow's FOX show "24."

To his credit, McCain did say that it was a million to one scenario. Back to Digby:

It was quite interesting watching the Republicans debate down in South Carolina tonight. I think it's clear that this group has come to fully understand that winning the GOP nomination is all about the codpiece. These guys have just spent the last fifteen minutes of the debate trying to top each other on just how much torture they are willing to inflict. They sound like a bunch of psychotic 12 year olds, although considering the puerile nature of the "24" question it's not entirely their fault. This debate is a very clear insight into what really drives the GOP id…read on

"Who Would Jesus Torture?!"

What all these idiots fail to realize and Ron Paul made it clear last night that they just don't have the numbers...Are these guy's all on crack...28% is not going to get you elected...Like I said about that first debate..."If this is the best the GOP can offer America then America is in bad shape indeed..." I don't want to forget about the other "Front-runner" Rudy Gui (Jew)...All he can talk about is 911...He cannot wait to try to steer the discussion to 911 and terrorism...Yeah the Mayor for Life In NYC...The Big hero of 911...Here is the real truth about Rudy's 911 legacy...From Media Matters:

I got to add this one last clip...Anytime Hannity get's smacked down makes my day...Ron Paul kicked him right in the throat last night...He tried his normal bully act and Paul walked all over him like the Doormat he is...Crooks:

foxdebate-paulhannity.jpg The FOX post-debate show got a little heated last night when Hannity and Colmes got around to interviewing Ron Paul about how things went. Hannity tried to pull his usual schtick by asking a question then interrupting and talking over the guest, but Paul plowed right ahead. Hannity brought up Paul's exchange with Rudy Giuliani on the root cause of 9/11 and couldn't seem to grasp the concept of American foreign policy playing a role in Islamic terrorism. Alan jumps in at the end and teams up with Rep. Paul to counter Sean's talking point stupidity.

The GOP is in really sad shape and anyone that still supports these idiots are also...Prime example Sean Hannity...
