"Barack Deserts Trinity Church!"

Article 6 Clause 3 of the US Constitution states, There shall be no religious test for any public office. In fact in the opening text of the Article it states almost the same thing:

...The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

That is why hearing that Barack "resigned" from his church is very disappointing. More importantly it makes me think:

  1. He is going to cave to the right every time they turn up the noise machine.
  2. He is allowing himself to be made responsible for the words of others.
  3. He is not going to unite the country nor uphold the constitution especially separation of church and state.
  4. The only thing that changes is the White House Drapes!

I still cannot get beyond that logic. That I am responsible for what others say or do for that matter. If a buddy of mine I have known for 20 years commits a murder am I responsible? Or if that same buddy yells fire in a movie theater and I am 1000 miles away does that make me responsible?! So how does the fact that Barack knows and has known Reverend Wright and Pastor Pfleger make him responsible for what they say?

It is a shame people can no longer tell the truth in this country. Since the little "dicktater" took over lying has become as American as apple pie and baseball. It's part of New America that started with the Reagan Political Correctness Movement and has become a major reason this country is in the shape it is in. No one can say anything to anyone even if it saves their lives without hurting someone else's feelings or their religious beliefs or some imaginary privilege that they think they have. Pfleger was telling the truth as was Reverend Wright. Hillary never thought for one minute Barack was any threat to her running for President until he won the Iowa primaries then took the next 11 contests. That is when she started using the Rove play book and the almighty race card. But blame it on everyone but Hillary. I guess she will be using this incident against him now that the Florida & Michigan delegate thing didn't work out totally in her favor. The new magic number is 66!

Personally, I wouldn't care what church he went to as long as he kept it to himself, like it says in the Constitution. I would prefer my candidate spend a lot less time in church and in reality tackling the real issues that we are facing as a nation.

Another big problem with him leaving his church is the fact Trinty is the type of church all Christian communities should strive for. I guess when people hear that the church preaches a "liberation" message it freaks them out and the guilt of slavery wells up and they think it is some kind of hateful message when it is in fact a call to liberate your mind.

"Free Your Mind & Your Ass Will Follow...The Kingdom Of Heaven Is With-In!" -George Clinton

I really hope this is not a preview of things to come from Barack. Another thing, since Barack is not a church officer or deacon or anything can't he just not go back to that church?

"The Weekly (C)Wrap-Up - Beam Me Up Scotty!"

It seems that the biggest news of the week is former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's new book where he really just confirms what so many of us already knew...They lied about everything Iraq! The biggest priority of the BCS (bush crime syndicate) was to go to Iraq and steal that countries oil see the PNAC Agreement. They did in fact out Valerie Plame by authorizing the CIA leak and that the last 7 years have been nothing but lies and deceptions. The book aptly titled; "
What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception" has got the criminals in DC squirming a bit. Scotty puts it all out there. Scotty must want to come up missing or is really broke to release this book at this time. The spin machine went to work immediately on Scott's Expose. From Think Progress:

What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception

When Scott McClellan resigned as Press Secretary on April 19, 2006, his White House officials colleagues heaped praise on him:

President Bush: “And I thought he handled his assignment with class, integrity. He really represents the best of his family, our state and our country.” [4/19/06]

White House Counselor Dan Bartlett: McClellan “served this country and this White House very well during very difficult times.” [On Hardball, 4/19/06]

Former Press Secretary Ari Fleischer: McClellan enjoyed “the trust and confidence of the president” and “was flawless in his performance, especially when you read the transcripts.” [4/20/06]

Yet news of McClellan’s tell-all book seems to have soured White House officials’ impression of him. Current Press Secretary Dana Perino said McClellan was obviously “disgruntled,” while Fleischer said he was “heartbroken,” and Bartlett called the book “total crap.”

MSNBC’s Kevin Corke reported this afternoon that White House officials, on background, went even further, calling McClellan a “traitor” and likening him to Benedict Arnold. He said the White House was “upset,” substituting that word for a word he said he could not repeat on television: MORE!

Not only has Scotty caught the attention of the BCS in a big way it has also got Rep. Wexler's attention too. Yup the same Wexler that is teaming up with Conyers to go after Rove, he want's Scotty to bring his revelations to the House...From Thinkprogress:

Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) is calling on Scott McClellan to testify under oath before the House Judiciary Committee about the “earth-shattering” allegations in his new book.

Right underneath that entry I noticed this:

Reacting to McClellan’s book, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, “I’m not going to comment on a book that I haven’t read but I will say” the threat from Saddam Hussein “was well understood.” She added, “I would really ask do people really believe that he was not a threat to the international community?”

I am going to say yeah Condelezza. Saddam was only a threat to the BCS and the Oil companies. Saddam was the stabilizing force in the Middle East because he played the bully and the rest of the middle eastern countries thought he was insane. He was a threat to US oil interests and Isitreal. Not that Isitreal couldn't take care of itself but their retaliation would bring on the wrath of all the Arab nations in the region, and in turn Armageddon. So they let the US do that dirty work in turn we have Isitreal retaliate against the people of Lebanon for democratically electing Hamas to power in Palestine. It's a dirty game folks!

A bigger story that is lost in the background of all the spin is the fact that Scotty also called out the media and they are still not acknowledging the fact of their role in selling the occupation to the American people. Well except my man Tweety. He still did not take full credit for his role or the rest of the corporate media's role but he does admit that the BCS did fool them into parroting what the WH house press secretary was telling them. Who in fact was none other than my man Scotty McClellan! From Crooks & Liars:

Mea Culpa: Chris Matthews admits WH engaged in “pure press manipulation”

Wow. Who would have thought that the incompetent Scott McClellan of all people would force the talking heads to re-evaluate their role in the lead up to the war, and make them finally realize that the White House deliberately manipulated them into mindlessly passing along pure government propaganda? To his credit, Chris Matthews today connected the dots and made as clear a case as possible that the White House used, in the case he cited, The New York Times to inject into the national dialogue completely bogus information that Cheney, Bush and Condoleezza Rice would later cite on the Sunday talk shows in order to scare Americans into supporting the Iraq War.

video_wmv Download | video_mov Download |

“There was a lot of salesmanship here….a lot of propaganda.”

Chris Matthews and David Gregory seem to get it. Mike Allen…not so much. We’ll see how the rest of media handles it.

Of course, for those of us who actually pay attention to this sort of stuff, Bill Moyers chronicled this manipulation extensively in his fascinating documentary, Buying The War.

Memo to the media: Better late than never.

There was more to it than just WH propaganda. Lets say it was media people not doing their jobs and following up on the BS they were being feed by Scotty and the rest of the future felons in the BCS. I just love it when these guy's forget they were the ones that let them continuosly lie and spin without any challenges whatsoever. Tweety was the most notorious of the softball lobers especially when he had Darth Cheney on. Timmeh would at least take them to the tape, but let them lie their way out of it and would not challenge the lies. I noticed that Tweety blames the NYT but they are all just as guilty! Make sure you check out that Moyer's special Buying The War. From Crooks & Liars:

Despite McClellan criticism, network anchors still refuse to re-evaluate their own complicity

Although Scott McClellan’s memoir is chock full of juicy bits about George Bush, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby and the myriad pre-war lies the White House force-fed America, perhaps the most important (and most overlooked) critique McClellan levels is aimed squarely at the “liberal media” and how they acted as “deferential, complicit enablers” of the administration’s “propaganda” leading up to the war. On the TODAY show this morning, Matt Lauer asked “the big three” — Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams and Katie Couric — whether they thought McClellan was accurate in his criticism of the press. Their answers are revealing to say the least:

Gibson: “I’m not sure we would have asked anything differently [if given an opportunity to do it again.]”

video_wmv Download | Play video_mov Download |

To her credit, Couric admits that mistakes were made and that she could have done a better job vetting the administration’s claims; although she also admitted that the White House threatened to cut off her access after she filed critical reports. But Gibson and Williams (along with, one would assume, the majority of the elite press) simply lack the ability to recognize that they were duped, and that they thus duped their viewers. Indeed, as Glenn documents in a lengthy post today:

“This is why most establishment journalists will never be convinced that they failed to do their job, no matter how much evidence is presented: because of the understanding they have of what ‘their job’ actually is.”

For a comprehensive breakdown of just how laughable the Gibson/Williams defense is, be sure to read Glenn’s post in its entirety.

These so called "liberal media" people are just as guilty as the BCS and they all have soldiers and Iraqi blood on their hands and they are doing the same thing with the WH in trying to "Sell" a war with Iran...

We are going to file this next story in the right-wingnut category because you have got to be nuttier as a right winger to believe this if you haven't already heard about it. They are attacking clothes now. Yes the wingers are not concerned with high ass gas prices which are also supporting the terrorist, but instead going after Dunkin Donuts over an article of clothing worn by one of it's spokes persons and TV personalities Rachael Ray...From USA Today:

BOSTON — Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an online advertisement featuring Rachael Ray after complaints that a fringed black-and-white scarf that the celebrity chef wore in the ad offers symbolic support for Muslim extremism and terrorism.

The coffee and baked goods chain said the ad that began appearing online May 7 was pulled over the past weekend because "the possibility of misperception detracted from its original intention to promote our iced coffee."

In the spot, Ray holds an iced coffee while standing in front of trees with pink blossoms.

Critics, including conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, complained that the scarf wrapped around her looked like a kaffiyeh, the traditional Arab headdress. Critics who fueled online complaints about the ad in blogs say such scarves have come to symbolize Muslim extremism and terrorism.

The kaffiyeh, Malkin wrote in a column posted online last Friday, "has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad. Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant (and not-so-ignorant) fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons." MORE!

And Michelly wonders why the McCain campaign no longer includes her in it's weekly telephone talking points sessions. Of course Dunkin Donut caved under the wingnut pressure and recalled the ad:

A statement issued by Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin' Brands Inc., however, said the scarf had a paisley design, and was selected by a stylist for the advertising shoot.

"Absolutely no symbolism was intended," the company said.

Dunkin' spokeswoman Michelle King said the ad appeared on the chain's website, as well as other commercial sites.

Michelly in a follow-up post had this to say after Dunkin pulled the ad; "It's refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists." Oh Really Michelle? I guess she forgot that before it bacame fashionable to bash all things Arab, she was a bit of the fashion icon herself...NOT. From Sadly No:

She just won’t be deterred. Despite being roundly ridiculed by, like, everyone for her latest jihad against Rachel Ray’s scarf, Michelle Malkin has dedicated her entire weekly column to the affair. Read. Weep:

The keffiyeh kerfuffle
By Michelle Malkin • May 28, 2008 09:38 AM

My syndicated column today examines the keffiyeh kerfuffle with Dunkin’ Donuts and Rachael Ray that I noted on the blog last week. As you’ll recall, I linked to an item by LGF’s Charles Johnson about the scarf she wore in a recent Dunkin’ ad. Keffiyeh chic has been covered on this site and at Hot Air extensively (see here, here, and here). Anti-American fashion designers abroad and at home have mainstreamed and adapted the scarves as generic pro-Palestinian jihad or anti-war statements. Yet many folks out there remain completely oblivious to the apparel’s violent symbolism and anti-Israel overtones. MORE!

How come wingnuts can't remember this is the 21 century and EVERYTHING is being video taped, pictured, and recorded just for moments like this:

The image “http://www.sadlyno.com/wordpress/uploads/2008/05/malkinkeffiyah.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Michelly...You got some "splaning to do!" Now I take it that this picture was taken back when it was still "cool" to wear the Keffiyeh chic. Hey Michelle maybe you should boycott yourself.

Moving on...

VA Secretary: Vets’ Concerns About PTSD Are ‘Overblown’

oe.gif Over the weekend, Veterans Affairs Secretary James Peake visited Alaska with Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK). While there, they met with Vietnam veteran John Guinn, who questioned the Secretary about the growing problem of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) amongst veterans. Instead of addressing Guinn’s concerns, Peake dismissed them:

VA secretary Peake suggested some of the concern about post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury has been overblown.

Many of the brain injuries are serious but some of them are akin to what anyone who played football in their youth might have suffered, Peake told Guinn.

Guinn wasn’t entirely satisfied with the answers. He said it’s a real issue for returning soldiers as well as their families, and he doesn’t think job training is enough.

On Saturday, Peake also said that many vets with PTSD may just need “a little counseling” and shouldn’t “need the PTSD label their whole lives.”

Peake’s comments are disturbing, especially in light of new numbers released by the Pentagon this week showing that the number of new PTSD cases “jumped by roughly 50 percent in 2007.” Since 2003, “roughly 40,000 troops have been diagnosed with the illness.” MORE!

VATICAN CITY - The Vatican insisted Friday that it is properly following Christian tradition by excluding females from the priesthood as it issued a new warning that women taking part in ordinations will be excommunicated.

The move dashed the hopes both of women seeking to be priests and of Catholics who see that as an option for a church struggling to recruit men.

A top Vatican official said the church acted after what it described as "so-called ordinations" held in various parts of the world.

Monsignor Angelo Amato of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith said the Vatican wanted to provide bishops with a clear response on the issue.

The church has always banned the ordination of women by stating that the priesthood is reserved for males. The new decree is explicit in its reference to women. MORE!

Mexico drug smugglers make Jesus statue of cocaine

NUEVO LAREDO, Mexico (Reuters) - U.S. customs officials have seized a statue of Jesus Christ made from plaster mixed with cocaine -- the latest sophisticated attempt to smuggle drugs from Mexico.

Sniffer dogs at the border crossing in Laredo, Texas, alerted officials to the smell of narcotics in the 6.6 pound (3 kilo) statue, which was in the trunk of a car being driven by a Mexican woman into the United States last week.

"The statue tested positive for cocaine," Nancy Herrera, an official at the U.S. Attorney's Office Southern District of Texas said on Friday.

U.S. border police arrested a 61-year-old Mexican man accused of offering the woman $80 to carry the statue to the bus station in downtown Laredo.

The woman escaped back to Mexico, Herrera said. MORE!

"Stupid Is As Stupid Does!"

4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be costly mistake.

I know people are stupid, some profoundly but it never ceases to amaze me the depths of just how stupid some people can be, and there is no excuse for it in this day and age. NONE! I should know these things and stop being amazed because I have studied the 5 Laws of Stupidity and even though Law 1 lays it out brilliantly I still cannot believe it when I run into it or hear about it.

1. Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.

At first, the statement sounds trivial, vague and horribly ungenerous. Closer scrutiny will however reveal its realistic veracity. No matter how high are one's estimates of human stupidity, one is repeatedly and recurrently startled by the fact that:

a. people whom one had once judged rational and intelligent turn out to be unashamedly stupid.

b. day after day, with unceasing monotony, one is harassed in one's activities by stupid individuals who appear suddenly and unexpectedly in the most inconvenient places and at the most improbable moments.

You really don't want to believe the first law because it does sound mean and for real you end up losing friends behind it. But the fact is pretty evident and it is getting worse everyday. It's kind of like insanity, most insane people don't realize they are insane as with stupid people. Everyone else can see that they are stupid, well except stupid people and that is why people like George Bush gets appointed, shits all over the American public, then wipes his ass with the Constitution and no one utters a word. He then declares "shit sammiches" are good and all his parrots repeat ad nauseous and the next thing you know Subway is selling the $5 dollar foot long.

Now the reason for the rant is the fact that after all of the endless hours of Reverend Wright coverage on the very same TV's stupid people watch and you still have some idiots that will argue you down that Barack is a Muslim. The fact that Hillary played it off on 60 Minutes when she said, "Barack is a christian, I mean as far as I know", was the final straw for me. On the very same 60 minutes episode, the journalist was telling some idiot from Ohio that Barack was not Muslim after the retard said that is the reason he wasn't voting for him. Guess what? That idiot still didn't believe Barack was a Christian. Granted this was before the Reverend Wright issue but damn...I guess it wasn't one of the faux propagandist's it was only 60 Minutes so dude didn't believe it. If I remember correctly he said he heard it on faux that Barack was Muslim. I guess if you watch Faux or know how they operate you could understand why a stupid person would still think Barack is a Muslim but not after the Reverend Wright hype though. NO EXCUSE! I was willing to see them join forces up until Hills said that "as far as I know" BS! She became more and more rethugliclan like as the primaries rolled on and Barack went on an 11-0 run in the top of the second half. Now Hillary is acting like she can't hear that fat lady singing in the bottom of the 9th! "Na Na Naaa Na, Na Na Naaa Na...Heeeey Yeeeea Good Byeeeee!" However, true to her rethugliclan lite form she will not concede defeat and play nice with the rest of the members in her party. They are going to have to drag her out of the convention. It's going to be almost as scandalous as $Bill and Monica!

Did you know that 18% percent of people believe that the sun revolves around the earth! REEALLY?! That's when the 1st Law of Stupidity kicks in...From Crooks & Liars:

Putting public ignorance in context

I genuinely believed, foolishly, that one of the unintended side benefits of the media’s fascination with Jeremiah Wright is that no one, anywhere, could still possibly believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim. After all, everyone in the country got to see a whole lot of Obama’s Christian pastor and his Christian church. Sure, there are some uninformed people out there, and some willfully ignorant people who simply choose not to accept reality, but generally speaking, it’s hard to imagine more than a handful of voters buying this foolishness.

And yet, the polls have been discouraging. The most recent Newsweek poll found that 11% of the public still thinks Obama is a Muslim. An NYT/CBS poll put the number at 7%. The Pew Forum found 10%.

As disappointing as this is, however, Ben Smith provided some interesting context to public confusion.

One relevant piece of context: Large minorities of Americans consistently say they hold wildly out-of-the-mainstream views, often specifically discredited beliefs. In some cases, those views should make them pretty profoundly alienated from one party or the other.

For instance:

22 percent believe President Bush knew about the 9/11 attacks in advance.
30 percent believe Saddam had weapons of mass destruction.
23 percent believe they’ve been in the presence of a ghost.
18 percent believe the sun revolves around the Earth.

In other words, if about one-in-10 voters buy into the nonsense about Obama, it’s still a reasonably low number, compared to some other widely-held misconceptions.

I’m just not sure, from a political perspective, whether this is reassuring or not. MORE!

The other number I thought was high was the amount of people who still believes Saddam had WMDs?!? Then I remembered Law 1 section a:
a. people whom one had once judged rational and intelligent turn out to be unashamedly stupid.
These laws cannot be stated enough! Now remember these are Laws of Science not like traffic laws and criminal laws or those "thou shalt not rules", they have also been tested over time and the results stay the same, like the laws of gravity and motion and physics overall. They are constants in a world that constantly changes. The Laws of Stupidity are included in that group! You want scientific proof that people are stupid?! Look around you! Read a newspaper or watch TV. The saddest are those street interviews Jay Leno does. Some of those people are teachers and they couldn't tell you who the first lady is or pick out the president in a police lineup.

True story! When Martin O'Malley first got elected as Mayor of Baltimore city he was out and about visiting high crime areas and of course one of the dumbest criminals in the world thought he was out there trying to "cop". You would think his dumb ass would have seen all of the cameras trying to catch the mayoral photo op! But like the title of this post, "Stupid is as Stupid Does!"

So just to give you guy's a little refresher because I end up needing one here lately once a month. The only fool proof way to defeat a stupid person is to avoid them like the aids at all cost's! If that is not possible try to remember the 5 Basic Laws of Stupidity!

The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity

by Carlo M. Cipolla, Professor of Economics, UC Berkeley
in
Whole Earth Review, Spring 1987

2. The probability that a certain person be stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.

Although convinced that fractions of human beings are stupid and that they are so because of genetic traits, I am not a reactionary trying to reintroduce surreptitiously class or race discrimination, I firmly believe stupidity is an indiscriminate privilege of all human groups and is uniformly distributed according to a constant proportion.

3. A stupid person is a person who caused losses to another person or to a group of persons while himself deriving no gain and even possibly incurring losses.

When confronted for the first time with the Third Basic Law, rational people instinctively react with feelings of skepticism and incredulity. The fact is that reasonable people have difficulty in conceiving and understanding unreasonable behavior. But let us abandon the lofty plane of theory and let us look pragmatically at our daily life. We all recollect occasions in which a fellow took an action which resulted in his gain and our loss: we had to deal with a helpless person. We can recollect cases in which a fellow took an action by which both parties gained: he was intelligent. Such cases do indeed occur. But upon thoughtful reflection you must admit that these are not the events which punctuate most frequently our daily life. Our daily life is mostly made of cases in which we lose money and/or time and/or energy and/or appetite, cheerfulness and good health because of the improbable action of some preposterous creature who has nothing to gain and indeed gains nothing from causing us embarrassment, difficulties or harm. Nobody knows, understands or can possibly explain why that preposterous creature does what he does what he does. In fact there is no explanation- or better, there is only one explanation: the person in question is stupid.

4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people always turns out to be costly mistake.

One is tempted to believe that a stupid man will only do harm to himself but this is confusing stupidity with helplessness. On occasion one is tempted to associate oneself with a stupid individual in order to use him for one's own schemes. Such manoeuvre cannot but have disastrous effects because a) it is based on a a complete misunderstanding of the essential nature of stupidity and b) it gives the stupid person added scope for the exercise of his gifts. One may hope to out manoeuvre the stupid and, up to a point, one may actually do so. But because of the erratic behavior of the stupid, one cannot foresee all the stupid's actions and reactions and before long one will be pulverized by the unpredictable moves of the stupid partner.

5. A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person. The corollary of the Law is that: A stupid person is more dangerous than a bandit.

According to the Second Basic Law, the fraction of stupid people is a constant which is not affected by time, space, race, class or any other socio-cultural or historical variable. It would be a profound mistake to believe the number of stupid people in a declining society is greater than in a developing society. Both such societies are plagued by the same percentage of stupid people. The difference between the two societies is that in the society which performs poorly:

the stupid members of the society are allowed by the other members to become more active and take more actions; there is a change in the composition of the non-stupid section with a relative decline of populations of areas I, H1 and B1 and a proportionate increase of populations H2 and B2.
"the stupid members of the society are allowed by the other members to become more active and take more actions..."

As you can see by the clusterfuck that has been going on for the past 8 years!

Now don't despair if after you read this and suddenly realized that you are stupid, because there is help. You come on back here on a daily basis, read my post's and get yourself "edjumacated" on whats really going on in the world. Stupid people bookmark the page now so you can find your way back. "Conspiracy Corner - Drunk By The Water!"

For a while now I have had my suspicions about what was in the drinking water. Why folks were not more upset with the way the country was really going. The endless amount of scandals and dirty politicians mainly GOP politicians, the lies to leading to the Occupation of Iraqnam, the slow erosion of civil liberties, and disregard for the rule of law! None of these things seemed to register with people. The obvious media pandering to the right wing and all the wingnuts it parades as experts. No one seemed to get angry as the media turned a war hero into a monster and turned a lying loser AWOL chicken-hawk into some kind of John Wayne! I felt like I was in some kind of dreamscape because people really didn't seem to care. I went through all the scenarios I could come up with and fear which is the top reason and still number 1 with a bullet today, and of course the apathy twins
1 : lack of feeling or emotion : impassiveness 2 : lack of interest or concern : indifference, however that couldn't be all of it, there had to be something else causing this apathy...I thought it might be something in the food and there is but that is another "Conspiracy Corner" topic for another day. Then I thought it has to be the water. I first looked into fluoride because I knew in PG county they added fluoride to the water. I never had a cavity when I lived at home as a youth, but I also brushed twice a day. However, I didn't realize what the fluoride may have been doing to my overall health until about 15 years ago, when I first moved to Baltimore.

I would say I had been living in Baltimore about 5 years when there was this massive project routing the water pipes city wide began. I watched as for days on end as they pumped clean water and cleaning chemicals through the pipes and nothing but sludge ran out for literally weeks. I talked to the guys working and they showed me 5 & 6 inch pipes filled with so much dirt and grime that only 1 or 2 inches was actually open in the pipe for the water to run through. I officially stopped drinking tap water at that point. The wife and I went out and brought a Brita filter and there was a world of difference. The water went from slightly sweet and crunchy to tasteless and refreshing like it is supposed to be. I am getting a little ahead of myself, first let's talk about what fluoride actually does to your health. Here are just two of ten concerns about fluoride and fluoridation...From Fluoride Action Network:

6) Ingestion of fluoride has little benefit, but many risks. Whereas fluoride's benefits come from topical contact with teeth, its risks to health (which involve many more tissues than the teeth) result from being swallowed.

Adverse effects from fluoride ingestion have been associated with doses atttainable by people living in fluoridated areas. For example:

a) Risk to the brain. According to the National Research Council (NRC), fluoride can damage the brain. Animal studies conducted in the 1990s by EPA scientists found dementia-like effects at the same concentration (1 ppm) used to fluoridate water, while human studies have found adverse effects on IQ at levels as low as 0.9 ppm among children with nutrient deficiencies, and 1.8 ppm among children with adequate nutrient intake. (7-10)

b) Risk to the thyroid gland.
According to the NRC, fluoride is an “endocrine disrupter.” Most notably, the NRC has warned that doses of fluoride (0.01-0.03 mg/kg/day) achievable by drinking fluoridated water, may reduce the function of the thyroid among individuals with low-iodine intake. Reduction of thyroid activity can lead to loss of mental acuity, depression and weight gain (11)

c) Risk to bones. According to the NRC, fluoride can diminish bone strength and increase the risk for bone fracture. While the NRC was unable to determine what level of fluoride is safe for bones, it noted that the best available information suggests that fracture risk may be increased at levels as low 1.5 ppm, which is only slightly higher than the concentration (0.7-1.2 ppm) added to water for fluoridation. (12)

d) Risk for bone cancer. Animal and human studies – including a recent study from a team of Harvard scientists – have found a connection between fluoride and a serious form of bone cancer (osteosarcoma) in males under the age of 20. The connection between fluoride and osteosarcoma has been described by the National Toxicology Program as "biologically plausible." Up to half of adolescents who develop osteosarcoma die within a few years of diagnosis. (13-16)

e) Risk to kidney patients. People with kidney disease have a heightened susceptibility to fluoride toxicity. The heightened risk stems from an impaired ability to excrete fluoride from the body. As a result, toxic levels of fluoride can accumulate in the bones, intensify the toxicity of aluminum build-up, and cause or exacerbate a painful bone disease known as renal osteodystrophy. (17-19)

9) Fluoridation poses added burden and risk to low-income communities. Rather than being particularly beneficial to low-income communities, fluoridation is particularly burdensome and harmful. For example:

a) Low-income families are least able to avoid fluoridated water. Due to the high costs of buying bottled water or expensive water filters, low-income households will be least able to avoid fluoride once it's added to the water. As a result, low-income families will be least capable of following ADA’s recommendation that infants should not receive fluoridated water. This may explain why African American children have been found to suffer the highest rates of disfiguring dental fluorosis in the US. (47)

b) Low-income families at greater risk of fluoride toxicity. In addition, it is now well established that individuals with inadequate nutrient intake have a significantly increased susceptibility to fluoride’s toxic effects. (48-51) Since nutrient deficiencies are most common in low-income communities, and since diseases known to increase susceptibility to fluoride are most prevalent in low-income areas (e.g. end-stage renal failure), it is likely that low-income communities will be at greatest risk from suffering adverse effects associated with fluoride exposure. According to Dr. Kathleen Thiessen, a member of the National Research Council's review of fluoride toxicity: “I would expect low-income communities to be more vulnerable to at least some of the effects of drinking fluoridated water." Of course it's effects are worse in poorer neighborhoods, SOP for America and another reason the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Accesses to better services and sanitation. However, this goes deeper than fluoride and it was recently revealed that there were all kinds of pharmaceutical drugs in several big cities drinking water. From the NYT:

Drugs Are in the Water. Does It Matter?

Residues of birth control pills, antidepressants, painkillers, shampoos and a host of other compounds are finding their way into the nation’s waterways, and they have public health and environmental officials in a regulatory quandary.

On the one hand, there is no evidence the traces of the chemicals found so far are harmful to human beings. On the other hand, it would seem cavalier to ignore them.

The pharmaceutical and personal care products, or P.P.C.P.’s, are being flushed into the nation’s rivers from sewage treatment plants or leaching into groundwater from septic systems. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, researchers have found these substances, called “emerging contaminants,” almost everywhere they have looked for them.

Most experts say their discovery reflects better sensing technology as much as anything else. Still, as Hal Zenick of the agency’s office of research and development put it in an e-mail message, “there is uncertainty as to the risk to humans.” MORE!

Does it matter!? Hell Yes! One question that I have is how long has this been going on?! Before anyone can say it's harmless we really need an answer to that question. We know certain drugs contain a certain level of toxicity especially if ingested for long periods of time. We could be ingesting those AZT chemicals that are definitely more harmful than effective. it stands to reason that if the drugs in the water are all part of a vicious water filtration system cycle then it has got to have been going on for as long as water treatment has. We are now just obtaining the technology to detect drugs in our drinking water?!? Or has it been conveniently ignored because it is producing the desired effects on the populace.

I can remember when bottled water first hit the scene! Evian from the swiss alps and all those natural springs that popped up everywhere to find out it was Baltimore tap water in those exported plastic bottles. The tap water scandal went as far as the Today Show with the conclusion being that most bottled water comes from the same municipal water supply that you get delivered to your house. So even bottled water is not "safer" to drink. Gonna make me take another look at my brita filter. I gotta see if it filters out the drugs. Maybe a triple distilling process should do the trick. Boiled water is the worst, it normally tastes like the pot it was boiled in. Guess I will stick to beer and liquor with the occasional juice for color. Pineapple soda from here on out!

"SOP For The GOP?!"

Check out the movie and also the book Standard Operating Procedure!

SOP in this instance stands for "standard operating procedure"and GOP stands for crime, war, oppression, well you know what it stands for but just for fun let's say it stands for for "group of old punks". Apparently the latest missive from the criminals in the BCS is for their operatives to make statements disguised as lame ass jokes, hinting that someone should assassinate Barack. The first to say it was fake ass reverend and wannabe McSame's vice presidential running mate Mike Huckleberry. A couple of weeks ago at an NRA rally Hucklebuck said after hearing a crash offstage, “That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he’s getting ready to speak,”...What was Barack standing on a chair for Mikey? That sounds like a thinly veiled lynching reference to me. Secondly, what is with the lame ass apologies after words? It's like when a lawyer mentions something that was supposed to be excluded from a hearing and the other attorney objects and then the judge tells the jury to ignore the remarks and strike it from the record, but the damage has already been done. The second incident where someone put out the suggestion, was our friend Hillary. Now granted Hillary was trying to make a point about anything could happen between now and the convention that would allow her to get the nomination, it was how she said it...From The NYT:

Clinton Remark on Kennedy’s Killing Stirs Uproar

By KATHARINE Q. SEELYE

Published: May 24, 2008

BRANDON, S.D. — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton defended staying in the Democratic nominating contest on Friday by pointing out that her husband had not wrapped up the nomination until June 1992, adding, “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

Her remarks were met with quick criticism from the campaign of Senator Barack Obama, and within hours of making them Mrs. Clinton expressed regret, saying, “The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Senator Kennedy,” referring to the recent diagnosis of Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s brain tumor. She added, “And I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive.”

Still, the comments touched on one of the most sensitive aspects of the current presidential campaign — concern for Mr. Obama’s safety. And they come as Democrats have been talking increasingly of an Obama/Clinton ticket, with friends of the Clintons saying that Bill Clinton is musing about the possibility that the vice presidency might be his wife’s best path to the presidency if she loses the nomination.

It was in the context of discussions about her political future that Mrs. Clinton made the remarks on Friday to the editorial board of The Sioux Falls Argus Leader. She had said that some people whom she did not name were trying to push her out of the race, but she noted that historically many races had gone on longer than hers. MORE!

Like I said I understand her point, I understand what she was trying to say, but to bring up Kennedy and him getting assassinated during a primary race that she is getting her ass handed to her makes her remarks seem really tasteless. Not too mention the fact that Ted Kennedy is very sick. Now either the Senator is hoping that something like that will happen and she gets the nomination and/or the realization that she is NOT going to get the presidential nomination that is making her talk crazy. She really needs to let it go and start trying to help unify the party against McLame.

The third time and the charm comes from Faux news propagandist Liz Trotta...From Crooks & Liars:

Liz Trotta: …as a suggestion that someone knock off Osama, umm, Obama, well both if we could

Liz Trotta, the former New York bureau chief of The Washington Times and a contributor for FOX News Channel was slamming Hillary over her RFK comment and had this to say:

Trotta: …and now we have what some are reading—as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama , umm, ah… Obama, well both if we could…haha…

Q) Talk about how you really feel?

Lauren S has more

Of course she turns around today and makes her lame ass apology saying, get this; "It’s a very colorful political season and many of us are making mistakes and saying things we wish we hadn’t said." Ohhh really Liz, seems like it's you GOP idiots and Hillary that are saying things they really meant to say! What is so colorful about this primary season Liz?! Oh I get it, the fact that there is some color at all is really getting your rethugliclan panties in a bunch! Isn't their some kind of law that prevents people from making threats of bodily harm to public officials?! Not that it matters in bush bizzarro world, where the rule of law has been supplanted by the rules of stupidity. I think I am going to start a pool as to which one of the GOP'tards is going to be the next one making thinly veiled threats against Barack's life!

These are not mistakes and bad jokes but hopes and wishes disguised as such!
